Is he also missing the outer toe nail? If he was and you could get it in the photo, it could be used to identify 2 faults.

I have a cockerel without a toe nail on his rudimentary toes that I can get a photo of if Rudy has his.

I will be setting on Monday as our eggs like to come a day early- no Marans this time- babies are 4 weeks old now and the other 4 pullets are 3 and 4 months old. Welsummer, Andalusian and Lt Brown Leghorn bantam. This maybe the last run in our cooler style incubator- DH is starting to build an incubator from a small wine refrig. that we picked up off CL

We will also be patiently waiting on pics and news of the new 'bator to be. Is it the style that has the glass door that we love to clean nose smudgies off of?

Now, I also have silkies with rudimentary toes, no nails.
Rudy has nails, but they actually look like they grow upside down.
Should I post silkie pics?

Don't blame ya at all! Wish there was someone close enough by me that I could get eggs from. I don't think I'll make the NYD hatch this year since the girls I'm wanting eggs from are still in molt. Hopefully this means it will be ok to get an early start in the spring with hatching.

You know when I was collecting eggs all my Marans started laying at one time... once I got my eggs they slowed way down. It was like they knew what I was doing.
