Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Speaking of Birchens....some of the little buggers I hatched out about 5-6 weeks ago.......have copper coming in.

Seriously?!?!!?! What the heck? I'm more and more happy we got on that list for chicks in the spring. I put the last of the money in my separate chicken account for the chicks and now its saving for the BLRW from Sue I'm saving for.

Wow! I sure won't be moving there in this lifetime!! Undeveloped land here is going for about $2,000.00 per acre, and folks are really complaining about how it's soared! I had to laugh when I moved here from CA., where an undeveloped, 1/2 acre, in the high desert was going for around $17,000.00 at that time, back in the late 80s!

Maybe I should be looking into land down your way Debbi with that price!

I know right! If you think that is crazy look up Portland, Oregon land and home prices.....then look up Seattle.

FIRST TIME POSTING since conversion!

1st - - My big disappointment so far with the new BYC is font size. Why do all the computer gurus assume that we can see substandard font sizes ? ? The standard font size has ALWAYS been a 12. YES, I know I can enlarge the font size, but why should I have to? When I enlarge the font size, everyone's avatar gets blurred

2nd - I would like my "Funny Post" smiley back - PLEASE

3rd - I DO LIKE the color font option AND spell check option.

PINK - Our local grocery stores do donate spoiled produce to local pig farmers, etc. They have to be re-assured that they are not going to be used for human consumption. When corn is in season, our local grocery store puts out a trash can for the husking of corn. When I go in to do my shopping, I ask if I can have the bag of husks. They are normally confused and I have to explain that it is for my compost pile. Usually, there is no problem with me having it . . .

Nimcomcoop - LOVE the copper on that blue AND there is no bleed through of the copper on the rest of the body. I like it a lot.

Flagardengirl - Let me know as it gets closer to Newnan show time if you are going to be able to go. It would be wonderful to get together for lunch or dinner one day. IS anyone else thinking about going ? Dates of the show are Feb 18 and 19.

Debbi and Pink - - I, too, am familiar with your pain with dial up. I recently was able to upgrade to high speed Internet ( the slowest form from at & t). We lived out here with no upgrades available for 5 years. Begged and Begged for upgrades for 5 years. What was totally ironic is that the guys across the street have ALWAYS had high speed options. However, their phone service comes from the town to the north. Our side of the street gets their service from the town to the south. It is LONG DISTANCE for me to call my neighbor across the street because of this. Just plain WEIRD !

WHY didn't my image work in the above post?

I copied and pasted just like I always use to from photobucket . . .

editted to correct my own spelling

Yes, seriously...copper. I am going to get rid of the all of them that show copper. 2 of the females are not showing anything other than black, so far. I will hold onto them for a bit longer and see what becomes of them, they will probably be used for layers.

I will patiently wait for the new chicks in a couple months.

Hey Slick,

I wouldn't toss that guy in the first pic because you don't like his comb. Wish I had more combs that looked like that here! Like Pink said, try to get some better pics of him standing upright, frontal and profile if you can.

Looks like the sun is out again today so I'm going to try and make time for pics of all the guys. Didja get a look at the blue boys eye (bottom pic)? You had a question about them a few weeks back. Shape, color I don't remember. I gotta admit my wife thought I was nuts for not liking that comb, too. I guess I need a stronger feminine side!

Hey Lisa the funny post smiley is still there in the chart of smilies. you might have to scroll down once its open to see it. Not all mine fit in the size screen that pops up with them. hope that helps at least

That stinks! That was a pretty ill-fated clutch, wasn't it?? Sheesh...

so sad, I'm glad now I decided to hold off buying the same. I'm really hoping between the two of us that we will get a good start on the project with the stock coming! And yes....being patient is becoming increasingly hard!
