haha...If I can figure out what I've got and see if they might be workable, I might just take you up on it. I have quite a few other questions that I would love to bounce off of someone that might be able to rattle off some genetics stuff at me. So, I'm really crossing my fingers I can find some more info and a direction to go

haha...I have the plans already drawn up for this spring to make that big u shaped set of breeding pens on the south end of the property. It should allow for 13 new breeding pen enclosures, not including the 4 I have in stalls and am planning on some individual test mate pens as well...so its possible I would have more room.

I'm wondering if this silver blood is coming from the cuckoos or the birchens. When I bought my birchen girls I also bought 6 boys as a package deal and there were two that looked very similar to Regulator as well...and I didn't keep them, but where I'm replicating them, I'm wondering if its not in the birchen line somewhere...I don't know. My head could probably explode overthinking things. I'm gonna shoot an email off to this guy that wrote the article and see if maybe he can shed some light on things.

Ok you need to think BIGGER! I know you know more than I do and you have more birds/breeds/colors how is that going to be enough? I have 10 new breeding pens and my 4 large pens. Hubby and I where already talking about dividing the big onea in half and MAYBE down the road if I make a little money having more breeding pens built. (I don't think he wants to tackle that project AGAIN!

but he will really, might hire some work done but not all) Mine are FULL and I still don't have a layer pen WTH?

haha...too funny. Was your hubby not that enthused with the idea? I just shot an email off to that guy over in the UK. I figure go straight to the source to see if I might possibly have something. I have butterflies in my stomach...is that weird? haha I've had a few people ask me why I've kept Regulator and why I was entertaining the idea of breeding with him...I'm so glad I listen to my gut. Even if it doesn't pan out, I was to at least give him the benefit of a doubt before culling him.

haha....By the time I'm done I'm shooting for about 20 to 25 breeding pens. I am just needing more to get me going. This isn't my property, so when I do finally get my own place (which I'm eyeing one very seriously) you probably won't be able to stop me from building to my hearts content!

YAY! Seed starting. I'm going to be getting my first round of seeds going this week as well! Btw, Debbi, I am getting your seeds sorted and they will be on their way to you before long!

Oh you guys are a bad influence. I thought I was doing good with the new 6 coop breeding pen. We already have 5 large coops and several portable brooders. I'm not listening to how many you all have and might have to get more LOLOL. I also am not looking at any more breeds of birds even if they are all clucking my name. Oh but I forgot, I just put a deposit on some sebastopol goslings...is that a bad thing? Dang I really really want some peacocks too. Do you know how large of a pen you have to build for peacocks? Just huge..its gonna hog a lot of chicken breeding space lol.

Hey Debbie! I have a broody keywest hen who is sitting on 5 SILKIE eggs

I love when the broodies do all the work lol. I took out 11 kw eggs from under her last night and slipped in the silkie eggs and there is still some other kw eggs under there. I don't know how such a little hen can cover all those eggs but she does! They are almost as small as bantams. Its been so long since I had babies around here..I can't wait!

I have a broody too! I am still holding off on setting eggs in the incubator... BUT it looks like I will have chicks in another week whether I want them or not! There was just no breaking this girl of her urge to broody. She is sitting on some delaware and test marans eggs.
I could only get 6 eggs under her. I tried to get 8 under her, but every time she would slide one in at the chest area, one would slide out the rump area!
