Haha of course I knew that but I just had to say it!! :p I don't think there are night crawlers here but Sassy found the fattest earthworm today. She ran around trying to gulp it down while all the rest chased her around trying to steal it.

I've had white feathers show up on mine too, only to fall out after a while. It seems like one pullet has developed them at the tip of one wing. Swear they weren't there two weeks ago.
On a brighter note I have the upper half on my brooder/hatcher ready to go with only some cosmetic stuff with the wires to finished. It's heated with four feet of 11" Flex Watt at the bottom and sides. I reversed the original freezer fan so that it draws the air inward from the top and out by a fresh air vent at the back. Takes a while to get to temp, but holds it pretty well. If my measurements are correct, I'll be able to use three racks comfortably. Next I have to get serious about the breeding pens.

Nice setup. I got some of the flexwatt heat tape for my winobator too. I just haven't had the time to work on it lately. I do have all the parts now though LOL! I was originally going to use heat panels but they were just too bulky.

Here is a cool video on the flexwatt heat tape if anyone is curious as to how it works..I use it on my plant shelves as well to germinate seeds. Its great cuz you can fit it to your shelves.

haha....I love when the birds do that! Its so funny! These nightcrawlers are just huge this year....between 6 and 10 inches long when they aren't all stretched out!

1 of those pips is a wet cheeping chick now! Such a fast zip and hatch!
Look at this little BCM racer: remember it's only day 20....

Hey Debbie: I remember a while back you were asking if anyone knew if their Silkies buried their eggs? My silkies have a little portable day house with a dirt floor in their run (this isn't their regular coop but kind of a hideout/fort for the run lol) anyhow, the other day I was checking it for eggs and there in the corner I saw a half buried egg. I pulled it out and there were 4 more underneath that one. Sneaky girls! Maybe they aren't so dumb after all.

hey Lenette...did you see at the sale I went to over the weekend that I picked up some black birchen pullets? I can't remember if you commented or not... I'm still workin on taming them down a bit so I can actually get some decent pics. All I've gotten so far is blurs. They are birds I'm realllllly interested in watching grow.
