Morning Vicki....I understand that you have some peepers going on in the bator?

I do....they have finally quieted down a bit....I have 4 chicks out and drying off and a couple that are just about out and quite a few pipped.....so by the time I get home from work later, I bet I'll have quite a few! I just love watching them hatch!

That's alots of chickers! WooooHooot! Good job!
I rehome most of my chicks tomorrow.

I had one little chick hatch this time that is still trying her hardest to make it. She is still in the bator and I know that she needs to eat or drink something TODAY (I have been giving her water by beak)...but she can't stand up and stay up yet. She was the only one that was very dry in the shell but she managed to make it out....she stands up for a minute or 2 and then boom, flat on her back and this is where she can't right herself and get up again. I am constantly turning her over...I'm afraid that if I put her with the others she will be trompled to death.

2 special needs chicks is all I needed. My little Barnie from the last hatch with a slipped tendon and now this one. Happy to report though that the Barnie is doing great and holding her own...almost like she never had a slipped tendon. The only thing is that one of her feet turns out to the side and she sort of resembles Charlie Chaplin when she is walking. :)

Sounds like you are going to have bator chaos when you get home. I love it!

I have a brooder for my Chick Hospital. I have 2 in the hatcher with leg problems in the cups. The others had feet issues. Most of my d'Uccles have leg and feet problems. I need to give them to someone that has more time. Out of 8-10 chicks I think 3 are doing ok. I am going to quite hatching d'Uccles. Maybe later in the summer I will try again, but I am thinking of selling them. I sold ALL my RIR yesterday. So that leaves me a pen for Layers or growing out or something. I will need one for the SLW .... if I ever get a little flock going.

I put Erik back with his girls a couple of days ago an was he happy. I am gong to try to move the broody today. I think she is going to stick it out even if I mover her. I moved her the other day and she just sat there and didn't move.... I moved her back. Now what to give her...... I think the lavender Ameraucanas and leghorns... I have a hard time hatching them and she might do a better job.

In the spirit of hatching day I thought I'd post a quick sampling of my Blue Copper chicks that are growing out. They are 7 weeks old this weekend. Loading them now and will post in a few minutes. I'm really happy with what I'm seeing so far!
