The last one did not come from a Maran family. It came from a very nice young lady who has Orphingtons, Cochins, EE, Ameracaunas, speckled sussex, coranation sussex and light sussex. She hatched Orphingtons and a bunch of Ameracaunas in the same incubator and when i got there, she opened it for the first time. If what she said is true, it has to be an Orphington, Ameracauna or Cochin. No feathered legs leads me to believe it is either an Orphington or Ameracauna.Budda - what color are the feet - are they flesh colored or yellow like they look in the pic?
Is it possible your camera is making the yellow parts look MUCH more yellow?
I've never had bright yellow feet like that on my Marans, but have had some flesh colored toes (which will darken)
I've had yellow leg feathers on the flesh colored part of the feet/shanks, but not on black legs...
The top kid should be blue!
Could the last guy just be a Marans without shank feathering??
As for the other three, the yellow is just as bright as the pictures make it out to be and i know FOR SURE, that those three came from Dark Chocolate Maran eggs which were laid by either Slpash, Blue or Black Copper Marans. I was in the pen when they were collected and hatched them in my incubator. They were the only three to survive/hatch.
Thanks for any help.
