Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Has anyone here tried a product called Cyzmic Cs for bug control?? It's about $25.00 for an 8oz. bottle, but that little bottle will make 30 gallons! You spray it on your coops and around the perimeter ground, and inside the run (chickens out while spraying and wait till dry), and has a 3 month residual affect. Kills flies and just about any othe bug! It is synthetic Chrysanthimum oil. My neighbor just brought in about 30 head of cattle, and my fly population has EXPLODED! The coop looks much worse than the Amityville Horror!

I mean, don't be a mouth breather and go to the run!!! I've got to try this, they are running me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd love to find out too if it works! I have a neighbor that's still working on their pond and regrading it and the flies and mosquitoes have gotten really bad because of it and would love to get rid of it! Do you have a link for it lady?

Due to our mild weather last winter, all the bugs here are out in full force! Skeeters and especially spiders are really huge this year, and I don't mean just in numbers, but in size as well! I found a Wolf spider the other day, the size of a silver dollar!!

haha....don't even get me started on the spiders. I had one the other day I was trying to catch by covering it with a canning jar cause I hate spiders. It was on a shelf in the garage and grabbed it to try...and I ended up not being able to use it cause it was to big for the mouth of the jar! Talk about freaking out!

I'll check out the link. I've been working on cleaning floors this a.m and am going out to do chores here in a few minutes.

I use a number of items to help decrease the fly populations. Each attack a different stage of the flies life cycle.

Hanging strips--odorless, just keep your hair out of it! Good for hanging high.

Manitoba traps--google that one Smaller versions are useful.

Predator wasps--very tiny wasps , never a bother, that use fly eggs to lay their eggs. Need to replenish on a monthly basis.

Spiders--web making spiders I prefer over the attack type.
Keep area dry--the eggs thrive in moisture.THis may not be in your control if the flies are originating elsewhere.

Bats eat tons of mosquitoes--we have lost most ofour bats to a whitenose disease. Only 5 a night vs 25 that used to come. Build bat houses.

dragonflies eat tons of mosquitos during the day in open grassy areas.

TOo many flies are a pain.

Yeah, no thanks. I've been through AZ many times, and I lived in the High Desert in CA. I like my greenage!!

I can tell you half a day before a storm is coming. And they thought that was an old wive's tale. Old wives are WISE I say!!

I get greenage envy sometimes when I see you all post pics of your birds out in the nice GRASS with BIG trees--then I remember why I moved here--oh yeah: winter and snow! But gosh, the older I get, the more I hate the heat. Just not tolerating it well. None of my projects are getting done, and I get cabin fever stuck in the house with the A/C. Wish I had the means to have a second farm someplace in the cool country, a big air conditioned trailer, pack the birds and me up and move out of here from June through September!! Yeah, right, dream on

Why would people say that?????? Manners, people just don't have them anymore!!!! My aunt used a wheelchair for big events like trips to walmart. One time we parked in the Handicapped parking spot, she had a tag, and I got out of the car and someone made a comment that there was nothing wrong with me and I should not park in that spot.... then I opened the trunk and pullet out the wheelchair and they took off.

Then you opened the trunk and pullet out the wheelchair
