Sure! It's fine to burn down YOUR house .... sheesh!

(But I have to give the boys credit, celebrating Canada Day that way. Long weekend here this weekend! Canada Day on Sunday - lay THAT on them if they keep it up!!!

Well, I might lay something on them, but it ain't gonna be Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day to you!! I wasn't worried so much about my house burning, as I was my coop and birds! It would be my luck the coop would go up in flames, no insurance on that. And try to tell people around here that you have a LOT of money, time, blood, sweat and tears into those chickens, and they'd just laugh at you. Yeah, they may laugh until they got my bill!!

I do remember what it's like to be a teenager, and I have raised teenagers. The concept of the "what ifs" never occurs to them, so I thought I'd step in. Now all I have to worry about is the drunken adults that will be traveling the gravel roads and partying this weekend, plus throwing fireworks out their truck windows!

It was 109 here today! The ALL TIME high for Nashville was 107..... tomorrow it will cool off to 106

needless to say, I didn't round up any little roos and stick them in boxes to drive an hour away! Next Thursday and Friday a cold front moves in.... drops to 95, 93.... maybe those will be better days to deliver some roos.

It needs to cool off..... I need to go sell some chicks on the side of the road somewhere

I sprayed all the front runs down with water in the late afternoon when it was the hottest. Everyone seemed fine..... they kinda liked the water. They would run at first and then they would stay still and just take it

The breeding pens in the back no one was showing any stress at all.

about 4-5 more days of over 100 and then we are back in the 90's again.

Is everyone copping ok?

Quote: Stay safe.... I hate fireworks..... HATE HATE HATE Them..... I was at a friends house and her step son dropped a bottle rocket in the BIG pile of fireworks and they all started to go off.... through the house over the house on the porch.... EVERYWHERE. They also had a small incident where he was playing chicken or something with the bottle rockets and set a girls hair on fire WTH?

I HATE FIRE WORKS..... AT HOME! The big ones are ok.... a little unnerving but OK.

Yes, still coping here. I too went out and sprayed down the runs AND the birds! They never did like it before, but now they are all just screaming to get into the run to be wet down! The Silkies all come out from under their shade cloth to get sprayed too, then go roll in the dust...real pretty. It was cooler here today, only 102 and a good breeze going, with low humidity! That helps a bunch! I'm afraid I will have to cull the one Silkie chick, it is looking lots worse today. Never a fun thing to do, but I won't see it suffer..

Oh me too! Teenage boys are the worst! My son used to do the same thing, he and his friends would shoot bottle rockets AT each other! How freakin' smart is that?!?!

Coping well here....it didn't get as warm as they thought...it ended up being 90, and who would have thought I would EVER think 90 felt cool, but I'm sure sayin it now!

I have an alarm when it gets too hot for the chooks. It's called "The Flossy Alarm". Flossy is a hatchmate of Roy and Clyde, and when she gets hot, there is NO doubt! She honks like a goose any way, but when she gets hot and wants to go into the coop, she lets out this awful strangled long goose honk that sounds like it's combined with a crow, and another sound like a person ready to heave their lunch. It's just awful, but she has done this since she was little, so I guess she's ok, she's 2 years old!?

Quote: We took it easy today and worked on my house. Quit early and finished the birds and shopped for paint and tile. When I got home... I MADE my mother come outside to FEEL 108 for the first time in her almost 80 years! LOL She got to the door and said I can feel it from here.

She did come out to seem my tile anyway.

OK, I agree cockerel #10 will go. Here is another one I am wondering about. This one seems to me to be too brassy-colored instead of copper. What do you all think? The last pic, he is the one on the right. Thank you.
This is BCM cockerel #37:
