Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

I couldn't remember if you kept them or not.
I would have liked to, but I just felt like it would take away from the time I'd have to spend with the Coppers and Birchens, and my other projects. I also have my Ameraucanas to go soon, its just been so cold the lady wanting them, hasn't been able to have a chance to finish her pens, so they wait here. I might hold a pair, but more than likely not.

Here's a few more chicks from the same batch, 10 days old today. Some were not too happy about it, particularly the turd on the left of this photo, all I got in most of the photos was sqwauking and flapping wings.

another different blue, but from the same breeding.

Is my pic showing up

I don't see a pic...but my BCm and BBS Marans didn't lay anyy eggs til late winter this year and I hatched them all last Spring. But wow, when they did start laying! The eggs are huge and so dark! I"m waiting on shade cards so I can tell how dark they are. ( I just sold 15 of the 19 chicks I hatched from those eggs and some OE eggs...

I told the buyer he'd be happy with their eggs, once they start laying. He'll just need lots of patience til then...

I was given a few oe eggs this weekend that were f1 eggs and they were a kacki color, not green at all, but a greyish beige?

Goose hatching ends with the most awesome little lovelies. (I have a pair of adult Pom Saddlebacks and a gifted Seb gosling 'wee wee weeing' at me right now.) I have learned just a slight flick of water is all, if any. Dry hatching seems best if you ask folks who have done this for years. I have yet to see a Marans here hatch. Waiting... waiting... yup, still waiting.

Love the pictures of the blues. I raise BBS Ams and the variety of blue is fun and curious at the same time.

Still waiting....
