Are your girls squatting yet when you go to pet them or pick them up? That is usually a good sign that they will be laying soon.

Just tried to pick one of the 2 up- she ran the other way

This is my first year with them. I have an April 8 pullet that has been laying for a couple of weeks, and one from May that is just starting. I'm in NW Oregon and I have a light on a timer in the hen house.

I have 2 cuckoo marans I have to get rid of. I think theyre both pullets, opinions? These are bad pics but from what you can see how is their quality?

I'm in Oklahoma loss in the high 30's during the night. We keep a light on during the night. I guess I'll just be patient - as if there was another choice ha!

Mine are very sweet and complacent. Because of that mine are easily picked on . Thank goodness I only have a total of 4 hens.

After the comments, I looked at the Welsummer online and she very well could be one or a Marans cross as she has feathers on her legs.  Although, I bought her as a Marans. Ultimately, it doesn't matter as she is an awesome hen. I am absolutely loving having hens.

I personally just love the darkness of her eggs. Beautiful

sorry but I don't have any roosters at all. Oh also my girls are very tidy. They actually leave the mulch in my flower beds.
