Nope, I don't think you're wrong here. Especially since Bev did all the work, their prices are ludicris. Without seeing pics of perfect parents and the egg's color being laid at the time I was buying, BEFORE I paid, there is no way I would pay that price!!! Heck, do they offer a life insurance policy on them??

Does she (or Bev, if you are here, do you?) or is it out of date? I mean, I think I'd be willing to pay more for birds directly out of her hands than from a flock she worked with.

I think Greenfire Farms is out to make a buck and they honestly aren't really interested in anything else.
I would NOT pay that much for eggs. Nor would I pay that much for chicks without seeing the actual eggs that they hatched from.

I feel like there are plenty of folks here on the Marans thread that would be way more willing to accommodate you in your request.

...$26 X 12, that's $312 a dozen!

Bev has teamed up with Greenfire farms to act as her shipping / hatching agent. I seriously wonder if she is aware of the $26 PER EGG charge . . . . .

Bev is concentrating on breeding new lines and improving old lines. Greenfire has mature marans that she has delivered and is breeding, collecting, hatching, and shipping those chicks. . . .

It is a shame that their prices have gone through the roof this year and have now reached the point of being unreasonable (IMO).

I WISH Bev was still selling. I contacted her right after she started sending her business to Greenfire farms.

There are a some breeders on here that I will be buying from. I was hoping to do it through greenfire because I could DRIVE and pick the eggs up WITHOUT shipping them. I worry about have eggs shipped in from 10 states away

, BUT I will do what I have to do.

I just wanted a reality check to see if I was REAL Offbase with this

Yes they might have gotten their hands on some rare breeds, but it doesn't mean a darn thing if they don't breed responsibly and to SOP
(or proposed SOP).

Actually she looks like a lot like my pullets after culling roos with red in the breast and a mossy female.
I think her leg feathering is good as you can see her toes...I had a couple of heavy feathered ones that
had short toes and fused toes, and I believe the leg feathering gene is linked with this, I prefer the lighter feathering.

Her copper coloring (as are mine) is not perhaps as extensive as the color standards are calling for,
but I'm thinking and finding getting better coppering from darker birds is easier to to achieve than "toning down"
excessive coppering, IMO.

It's a bit difficult to breed to the SOP without a visual of the perfect bird, and there is a difference, as you know,
between a "show bird" and a good breeder bird....but I think she's a great breeder bird

I am looking for and have been looking for some one with Pure Bev Davis BCM's - - -
IRONICALLY, I have found many people on the WEST coast fitting this description. IRONIC because Bev lives about 4 hours from me AND people with her eggs are clear across the United States. . . .

On the EAST coast of the US, I have found many with pure wade jean, or pure presley, or davis mixed lines.

Hey, I have a question for you guys. Do chicks that hatch out mossy ever molt out to look normal, or do they always stay mossy through adulthood? I know that white feathers can molt out but how about the moss?
