Ok, I found the pictures I was looking at....heres the link http://www.marans.eu/varieang.htm
Only it doesnt list them as blue birchen, just birchen. I guess I thought it was the same think b/c they say on here that they are not recognized, like the other blues...
Is a blue birchen the same as birchen?
Hi
Yes, the blue birchen is the same as the black birchen but blue. What they mean by it not having been accepted yet is that the French haven't had it accepted yet by their APA. We can get various colors accepted here that the French haven't had accepted, we are a different country.

Thank you Bev, yeah i knew it was a French site, but the problem is, it's all still greek to me!
Well I just had a scary experience. I was taking one of my dogs out. Who stays on leash around the chickens. He would like to eat them. My five month olds are out free-ranging. My dog gave the stare down to one of the pullets and the head cockerel started moving towards us. This is a cockerel I want to keep.
Grabbing the leash to hold my dog as close to me as possible I realize my cockerel is going to try and attack my dog. You have to understand the dog is an eighty pound pitbul. My dog starts freaking out and it takes all my strength to hold his head up away from the bird. The cock actually jumps at my dogs face. I had to kick the cockerel away to save his life. He attacked four times being kicked back every time. Luckily I didn't miss. I fell down barely able to hold my dog. The stupid cock attacked three more times with me lying on the ground with my dog over the top of me and I was able to kick him away still. Thank god they come at you chest first. So I think my cockerel is fine he strutted off while I brought the dog in. Dog and bird are fine it is just me bruised and scratched. I guess I will carry a rake with me when I bring this dog out. I was shaking afterwords it almost felt like I had been in a car wreck. I am so happy I didn't have to see my dog kill a bird.
As we know blue can and does express itself in different shades, my question, how will this be broached in the standards or proposed standards? Will there be a certain hue of blue that is proposed/sought? Or will all the shades of blue be acceptable?
There are quite a lot of people going to the Ohio Nationals and there will be the egg show there as well. Someone has offered a pair of bantams for a raffle. If you want to show your eggs just take them along on the day or send me an e-mail and I'll give you an address to send them to.
