Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Not sure what or who they are at this point...but I can say that there definately is Davis stuff going on with these birds. You will see what I mean when I get the rest of the girls photos posted for ya. To be honest with ya........at this point, I am not concerned with what cross they may be. I am really liking most of them, alot! Remember I am done with "whose line it is anyway." If they lay an egg a #4 or better and have good conformation.....they are a Marans......and that's gunna work for me.

Ya I hear that... I figure the standard will converg on the point that all the lines start to look alike.. And when you have to ask.. Whose line is it anyways you are at a point that the bird has "arrived"...

You going to cross Slate with Bill??? That will be interesting... And Charmin... my goodness! Do you have those in the hatcher yet???? I would guess you get all blue appearance in the offspring...

I'm not going to be crossing Charmin with Bill, she is Gnarles' girl and only Gnarles' girl. Charmin does not leave Gnarles' side, those 2 have a bond I have never seen before. If she gets to far from Gnarles he will go find her and lets her know she got a little too far away for his liking.

I have 10 of Charmin's eggs collected for the 'bator, they will be going in tomorrow.

Yes, I am going to cross Slate and Bill.

Ok, so this is something I didn't know - - - we prefer a long back . . .

That would be the case with a roo, too ? ? If we had a chunky monkey, we would prefer to see that chunky monkey have a longer back . . .

Debbi-That is really helpful to be able to read the proposed standard. It sure helps when I look at mine to know what to look for.

Is there a place one can look to get a "standard" as far as coloration for the black copper?

OH DUH!

I found the link.

A few more photos of some of the younger birds from GFF, but first, this first photo is for Don. Don this is my darkest blue pullet from my large male Bill, I thought you might like to see how wide she is in the back. This is good, yes?
