Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Right there with you on the roos ....

I still have.....

5 or 6 marans cockerels
7 speckled sussex cockerels
3 or 4 delaware cockerels

That need to be thinned down to one or two roos.

PLUS there are the 42 eggs in the incubator.... which means more cockerels are coming!

I don't think I even want to start listing how many cockerels I have of what breeds at the moment.

There will be quite a few making their way to freezer camp this week while I have time to process them, but I'll still have quite a few I'm waiting on the coloring to come in to decide

As long as I am buying the feed and putting it in the feed buckets...... my bird better not even think of caring what I wear into the coops. However the younger birds do love to peck at my pink camo boots.....I don't know why....they shouldn't even be able to see them....the whole reason I got camo boots in the first place.

Oh you funny girl! That only works if you have pink sand in the run!!

Galivina... you can use her one time and then put her back... It isn't a big thing... Nothing like a red and blue bird... super awesome eye shocker. And you already have everything there...just hatch about six eggs and keep the girls.... breed them back to the same male a second time and voila!!!

I was just about to ask the same thing...beat me to it

I agree about the blue and red being an eye shocker too. I have a pair of blue laced red chicks that are hitting about 4 months old and their color keeps getting more even and improving. I think the color combo might just be addicting haha

Melanie,

Not sure if the Ivermectin will work that quickly on external parasites? That may take a few days. If the chick was weak to begin with, it sure doesn't need the stress of mites. Maybe hold off on the broody a few days, or dust the hen?? I'm sure someone with more experience in this department will chime in. Glad you at least got one baby!
