haha you are too funny.... I lost my favorite lavender cockerel to the heat the other day....i'm still not over it....I for sure have a gorgeous pullet, a darker lavender cockerel (the darkest lavender I've ever seen....striking tone really) and one I'm really not sure yet whether is a cockerel or a pullet...If I were pushed to bet I'd say cockerel...but it really stands in that blurry middle ground at the moment. I think its supposed to cool down in a couple of days so I think I'll be able to get some pics again...right now they hide under anything to stay cool and i don't want to mess with them or get them worked up...don't want to lose anymore....oh...the other two from that hatch are coronations that are chunkers...pretty sure i've got a cockerel and a pullet....they used those in their line with the lavenders...not complaining...love them too!
I don't blame you I love the coronations and the ones I saw at the Newnan show were huge monsters! If I had more room right now, I'd probably order some coronation eggs from somewhere. I really think I need a bigger place
My lavender Orp boy is huge and has the darker lavender color. He gets a little blonde running around in the sun but he looked good before summer. Man that boy is a good daddy. He adopts anything that looks like a baby: chicks, ducklings, turkeys, kittens he doesn't care, they are ALL HIS!
yeah...they certainly are huge birds....I notice that with my lt sussex splits that they are not as big as the coronations that come out of them....one of my coro boys growing out right now is a hulk....I think he's gonna be monsterous as he is twice the size of some of his sussex hatchmates.
I hear ya on needing a bigger place! I am looking...eyeballing a couple, but one is not on the market yet...a family friend recently moved to town to one of those independent living places...so the house has been sitting empty...I would love that place....its a gorgeous old farm stead with the porches and outbuildings and all. You should just move back to Nebraska I say haha....you wouldn't have to deal with tree rats then....or any of those crazy snakes you've got goin....worst thing in this part of the state I deal with for snake is every once and a while you will see a big bull snake slithering out of a corn field, but as long as you have cats or dogs, they really don't get near the animals much...
that makes me happy that you have a darker lavender boy....its hard to describe the color unless you've seen it....its so rich but so light at the same time...that's as close as I can get. its really sweet he is such a gentle one too! that's a bit of a rare trait....
