Hi!
Boy o Boy....where does a person start with your question.
1st~ There is it always okay to breed what ever bird to what ever bird that you want to.
2nd~ What is the reason for this breeding? What would you like to accomplish with this cross of 2 different varieties of Marans?
3rd~ It will create a genetic mess of things that will pop up in the offspring as far as plumage color goes that will be hard to correct if trying to breed to standard, by this I mean that you won't get the pure color variety of Black Coppers and/or Blue Coppers or Wheaten.....but if a person does not care that the genetics is all messed up (not to say Marans aren't already a little genetically messy
) and IMO is not breeding them and selling them as pure Marans of certain color varieties and just layers then I don't see a problem with it. It's when they get all crossed up and sold and pure color varieties that gets some feathers ruffled and to quite honest with you is where alot of problems that the Black Copper and other color varieties of Marans are having the majority of their color issues come from.
Hope this helps and Welcome to the Marans thread.
