I'm not a pro, but he has some qualities that I have learned to stay away from.
Can anyone else give any input?

I needed something to keep me from dwelling on my pullets not laying

I think they started to mature late and now the seasons changing so may have to wait till spring. I want eggs but all the better for the hens to wait health-wise.

Aww...that's too bad... but, just think of how long you've waited for Birchens...what's one more week?

Just teasing ya! I would be feelin the same way Kim...I'm workin hard to tell myself why I don't need to have any hatching eggs til next spring.

On a good side note...I think I have the best overall hatch of Cuckoo Marans chicks...that batch I hatched out that has the 3 pullets and one cockerel....They are looking niiiice! The cockerels leg feathering is great to watch come in...He had those pin type feathers and hadn't really opened up yet, but this week they are fluffing out and is the best I've had so far. I'm so excited for progress on them since I haven't had this group of Hens long...Claude came from their line, but I bought him as a chick from that guy...so its definitely showing improvement having bred him back to Hens from the same line!

Alright...off to work...its gonna be a long, long day...
