I'll be on the road at a quarter to 6 tomorrow morning, so that means getting all the sale pens done tonight. I sure hope the sale has a good turn out!

Lenette has birds that do lay some gorgeous eggs! That is for sure! maybe you (Anna) and I should sort out putting in an order and split it if we can find birds that lay nice and dark eggs? It for sure would save some money on shipping! The bonus is that the guys in the main post office downtown in lincoln know me and will call me at any hour to make sure I get my eggs or birds as soon as possible.

Yes! I would totally be in. Its going too take another 2 yrs to get that color haha!

haha no kidding. The egg color part of the Marans for me has been quite the challenge...but then again, It's probably my own fault since I started with birchens...the ones with the worst color. I've made improvements, but I will absolutely die if I get the color on them as dark as Lenette's blues....

But most of all - HAVE FUN!!!

Now, if only I could figure out how to get my new Brinsea incubator (and humidity pump) to run - I might actually feel like I was worthy of a university education.

Eggs are looking about 50% in the hovabator - which DOES please mean given their travels and circumstances. Things are growing.

Just got a new Brinsea Octagon 20 with humidity pump because I'm hoping for a better hatch. (I drowned a good number in my hovabator last hatch. Would like to avoid that this time if at all possible!!!!) But I can't seem to get the humidity pump working properly.

University courses may sooth my mind but they don't necessarily mean I have a brain!!!!

I've read and re-read instructions and replaced all the hoses but I can't seem to get the humidity above 34% which means water isn't reaching the incubator ....

That's awesome that you have that much development!

I'm not familiar with the octagon 20...how does the humidity pump attach? I have a sportman with a gravity feed water reserve that sits on top and has a hose that goes to the tray with a float that regulates how much water goes in. Every once and a while I'll notice the tray gets kind of low and usually just tapping on the hose will help, but the biggest problem I've found is that if I don't keep enough water in it, that it doesn't seem to have enough pressure to push the water down the hose. None of that might be relevant to what you are experiencing, but thot I'd throw it out there in case it might make you think of something else you might not have tried yet.

I got my first maran egg yesterday. I believe its the black copper maran/ wellsummer cross hen cause her comb is all red now.

this is the egg between the rhode island red jumbo egg and the white silver spangled hamburg egg.
