Yes, I can't complain about their shank feathering!!!!

These are the 3 Black Coppers - looking like 1 male in front and 2 females behind, I'm thinking.

It is also interesting to note that the ones I'm assuming are females at this point have MUCH heavier leg feathering - one with the short toe. Male in front has the lightest leg feathering by far. (Male's comb is wounded and not funky like it appears in this photo.)

Here's a couple of pics I took yesterday that I'd promised Kim and Lenette.

I'll have to see if i can get a couple more pics of my other caramel girls.

A shot of one of my black birchen boys. Not the best stance as he was on alert from my ferocious kitty. He's got some nice color coming in as well as size...if I'm remembering right, he is about 4 months old. Usually he has a pretty good stance and tail set

here's that big ol' splash girl Kim...she is as solid as a rock and is about 6 and a half months old. I am curious to see how big she ends up being when she's all filled out.

my first blue copper girl...she's still got quite a bit of growing to do at just a bit over 4 months. I love her butterball-ness.

little Gracie also wanted to say hi!

thanks Shawn...its a bit of a zoo around here with the goats, cats, dogs, and my different breeds and colors of feathered friends. Loading these pics makes me realize just how far behind I really am on taking pics.

the lady that I got Ina from when she was just teensy (not that she's that much bigger now
wink.png
) raises Katahdins and she loves them. Said she probably won't ever raise another kind of sheep.

Cute Goat....is she one of those that runs a few feet and then falls over dead? What breed of sheep do I buy if I'm raising them strictly for meat?
Marans, Marans, Marans... Blu Copper. Black Copper & Wheaten Marans!

No she's not a fainting goat. I don't ever want one of those. She's a pygmy...a true one, with little short legs and solid frame. Don't be fooled by how petite she is....tryin to pick her up is like trying to pick up a keg of beer. haha
you're wanting meat sheep or meat goats?

meat sheep would be ones like Katahdin, Dorper, Leicester, Hampshire, Norfolk, Shropshire and the like. Oh...and I forgot my favorite one...the barbados blackbelly. I think they are pretty.
meat goats would be boer and kiko mainly... there are more, but those are the two most popular

G-lady,

Those are really nice looking birds. I do like the coppery hackles on the blue ladies and the Birchens look grump.

thanks! I do enjoy raising all the different colors of Marans I have here, but the birchens top that list by far. I see you've been edited to "grump" on the birchen comment, but I know what you mean

They are getting there...got some more work to do, but I enjoy the process.

When I read your comment of moving out of SD to find more land, I immediately thought South Dakota being from the midwest. I did a double take and checked your location, cause I was wondering who was filling up all the land in South Dakota that you had to move out of it to find more space haha

the pygmies are excellent pets for kids to learn responsibility with and they are efficient with use of space and their conversion of food.
