That is a great price, wish you were closer. I go through a ton every two weeks.

I had thought about buying feed in bulk too. Used to be, the local MFA would special mix feed for you, and rent you a storage bin for it. Then when you are getting low, give them a call, and they will deliver more. Don't know if they still do it or not, or what the minimum purchase would be these days. Guess I'll head to town on Monday and see.. Sure would free up some space around here, and be much easier on the old bones. I just love lugging the 50# sacks off the truck...NOT!

Well we happened to be in the right place at the right time, it is actually in 10 pound bags packed in boxes. With 5 bags per box so we ended up getting a ton, and friends of ours each got a ton so we loaded 3 ton and than unloaded 1 ton yesterday and DD and I unloaded our ton this am. So we have 40 boxes stacked to one side of our work garage.

I read all that you guys have posted, and I drool. I secretly want to leave... wait, it's not a secret... I want to leave this New York crap and want to be able to put up a barn, without having to get a permit, and wonder if my neighbor wil get mad.
We both work over 40 hrs a week, and by the time we get home, there's no time to mow the lawn, or take care of the gardens.
At least I cook almost every night. Real food, not heat up out of a package.
We tried to escape a few years ago, but long story short, it was just the wrong place.
We were lucky enough to be able to come back. Family still here.
We found a summer cottage with a 2-seater outhouse that was falling apart, we bought for the property, just under 2 acres.
Knocked down the first house, and built a new home ourselves.
But it takes alot out of you. I'm getting too old for this crap.
I wuld love to start a commune or something like that, in the middle of nowhere, and breed Marans.
Eggies, eggies, Marans....
And not have to pay INSANE property taxes, and car insurance.
Marans! And live off the land. The way it should be!

and its a bonus...you are in the middle so you can go in any direction and the best bonus...I can order eggs from any part of the country and they get here quickly!

But I HATE hate hate winter and snow.
We gotta do something, DH is actually looking into retiring in Costa Rica.
That is a little too far for me.
But maybe if I didn't have to drive to work every day with these morons, it wouldn't be so bad...

haha...yup...winter does suck...but I put up with it...I'll definitely take it over the winters when I lived further north. Oh yeah, costa rica?! That'd be a good place to retire...what would you do with your birdies?

I got a bunch of Thai eggs on e-bay. I know, I know.
But these birds are cooler than sh1t!
I have one entered as a Shamo next month, Was going to send you a pic, I'm not sure what "swarthy horn" is supposed to look like.
As soon as they popped out of the egg, they were just tearing around, Checking everything out. No naps for these guys.
