March Hatch-A-Long

Out of 12 eggs I have 7 to toss. Three were never fertile, and 4 quit on me. I have another one I THINK quit, but not sure. The others are looking good so far!

At least you still have five left which is at least something.

Oh that is sad. I was for sure that my one silkie egg was a goner and got a bit upset ( gesh I get too attached already lol at only 6days) but then went later and saw movement inside. That silkie is from my blue rooster and splash hen. So far all offspring have been blue and blacks..maybe that’s all they can produce.


My 9 yr old said step away from the incubator. Her next words were “ whatever hatches hatches”.

I have two ducklings hatched, a third on the way, but I see two discoloured eggs that tell me they internally pipped and quit and no action on the chicks yet

To keep the hatchlings from rolling the rest of the eggs and causing them to drown.
This is worse.

Congratulations on the hatch! That's exciting that you got a color that you wanted. I would like to hatch silkies or a silkie mix, but my one remaining silkie stopped laying eggs very early on and hasn't laid any since.

These one's that are hatching egg's that were shipped from out of my state. I'd love to have a plain white one too, but I'll have to wait and see what hatches out of the other one's. Those first 2 are still alive this morning, so that's a good sign, huh? I'm about to move them into the brooder.

Yup, I have a black roo over a buff hen and all I have ever gotten are blacks, pus a random partridge thrown in. It didn't make it. I also have an egg from a friend of mine from her black pair.

I just discovered some more eggs that were hiding so now I'm up to 7 in the incubator.
