March Hatch-A-Long

Pics
My cockerel chick is huge compared to the pullet that had a rough start. I guess that’s just down to the extra three days of normal nutrition he’s had. She’s doing great though! Her hobbles came off yesterday and by the end of the day you could hardly tell her legs were so messed up at hatch. She’s got a big full crop today and is super sassy.

So after I thought things were going well with my broody hen, I've just had to pull two eggs since they just hadn't developed. Bloody stunk when I cracked them open. Just candled again with a brighter torch and one seems on track but the other remaining one seems to be a bit delayed so I'm guessing it's a quitter.

If I pop some chicks under her on Thursday, will she think they are hers or will that not work?

Pop some day old chicks under her after dark when she is sleeping, works like a charm. I did this last year with a broody hen. Woke up proud and pleased as punch to take care of babies.:D:D:D

Hi! Room for one more? I set 10 yesterday 6 faverolles and 4 mutts faverolles mixed with dominique, SS, ameracauna, and delaware.:)

I did this last year with 2 broody hens that only had 1 chick hatch. I just waited til dark popped a few chicks udder them both and they never knew I hatched them 2 days earlier.

I would wait to see if the eggs she still has hatch, then add a few. Good luck.

We have 4/10 ducklings hatched :wee
No sign of chickies yet, but I’m holding onto hope as they’re only just due now.
One of the ducklings was a little stuck, so after a full day and a half post pip, I helped it out a little and pulled the two already hatched out to go in the brooder.
Glad I helped as the poor baby was shrink wrapped after sitting there so long unable to break out.
Going strong now though :) Here’s the two already out:
