March Hatch-A-Long

Pics
I started with just a pair and a few ducks, then after 2 years my gander died all of a sudden (supposedly about 5 years old) I got another pair so had a trio. Gucy I believe got pounced on accident by my 120lb dog when He was rough housing and died the next day (also was insanely cold that night too.) So, I got rid of the other two. I wasn't attached to them as I'd only had then about 6 months.
I'm attached to three of my geese. My oldest one is ten-ish years old and the other two are a year younger. The last one was hatched just a couple of years ago, and I'm thinking of getting rid of her because she hasn't grown to be very big compared to her parents.

Put these in about 7:30 PM last night after 3 days at steady 100°. I got up this am to the thermometers reading 106 and 104. Took lid off and got it back down to 99 and staying steady there. Today's eggs are going in out little Janoel12 to see if we can get at least some of them to work out. It didn't take long for eggs external temp to go down so hopefully it had just gotten to that point. 23 barred rock and 6 buff and lavender orpington crosses in the large one. It is a still air incubator. Let me know if anyone has experienced this before.

Yeah Gucy was my favorite followed by Ricky the newer pair was Bonnie and Clyde. Gucy lived with the chickens when she was solo and they got on fine. I added the new pair and Bonnie killed 3 grown but not yet laying large chickens (Brahma, Wynadot and White rock) when she and Clyde got added until I moved them back to the other side of the backyard.. They weren't aggressive to people but especially she was very other animals aggressive.

When you first put eggs in, it generally takes 24 hours or so for the temp to normalize, better for them to be a little too cool in the beginning than too hot though.

Welcome, I hope your hatch works out. I don't think my incubator has ever gotten that warm, though it has been at 102F with a successful hatch.
By the way, my incubator is a still air one as well.

Yeah Gucy was my favorite followed by Ricky the newer pair was Bonnie and Clyde. Gucy lived with the chickens when she was solo and they got on fine. I added the new pair and Bonnie killed 3 almost grown chickens when she and Clyde got added until I moved them back to the other side of the backyard.. That's not good. My geese have never killed any chickens though my gander got close to killing one of my roosters when he was fighting with a rooster in a pen while free-ranging(he doesn't like when the chickens fight).
My oldest goose's name is Feather(real original, I know). The other two are Pitter and Patter because when we got them, their feet were pittering and pattering in the box. The fourth one is unnamed because I have kind of stopped naming my animals for some reason, excepting my cats and fish.

I name animals I spend alot of time with and don't plan to eat lol.
Yeah, Bonnie hated the chickens. It wasn't fighting or even over food. I saw her try to kill one, as I didn't realize she had been what killed the first two, She would grab them by the neck, drag them down to the ground and basically smother them in dirt or mud. It was terrible and they were all missing a bunch of feathers. So yeah I never got attached to the pair after she did that crap.
None of the chickens and only 2 ducks were ever named lol

When I was younger, I would name a lot of my birds. They were mainly silly names, but I've kind of stopped because the ones who are named, I get pretty attached to, and it makes me really sad when they die. As for my sheep, I think I don't name them because I'm lazy and they have ear tags. Actually maybe I'm just too lazy to name any of them:oops:
