March Hatch-Along Thread- Come Hatch With Us!!!!!

I have chicks due to hatch on the 13th and I am also wanting to set on the 9th for the Easter hatch along can I do this with only one bator or no? Any help will b appreciated
You will need to either get another bator, or make one yourself. The earlier eggs will need to be removed when it's time for lockdown, if not you could drown out the E.H.A eggs due to the humidity being in the high 60s-70s. If you have a styro cooler, an extra lamp, & some sponges you can put one together really easy, since you only need it to hold constant for a few days. If you plan on incubating more throughout the yr then better to buy one or make a nice one w/ all the gadgets & gizmos
Good Morning....=)

It is still dark here.6:45............Went to check the humidity in the incubators and heard the most
wonderful sound before I got the lights on...........CHEEP CHEEP..........I am certain they were telling me.
"Here we come"...=)
Have three nice sized pips so far...............An amazing sound after the rough start they had in shipping.

Wish I could help about your question..will leave it for someone who may have done this.
I have two incubators and use one for a hatcher.I put new eggs in the incubator every 7 days so I always have the hatcher
available for lockdown.............I am using my own eggs so never sure how many I will have to set in a week.
My hens are not laying well yet........except the little Seramas...They are laying machines.

Well for sure be checking in later........=)
YAY!!!!

Welcome welcome! Have you hatched the pheonix/plymouth rock crosses before? I am interested in seeing how they look

SO over here @ the early morning In The Sticks Soap Opera - I nearly had heart failure when I woke up. Wake up, wondering when I passed out, went to the bathroom & as I was exiting...I looked inside incubator #1 & gee willickers, if I hadn't just peed - I woulda done peed myself right then & there...then had heart failure. The temp read 107!!!!!!!!!!!

I was raising the temp back after candling & apparently passed out from exhaustion. panicking I threw off the lid & fanned them. Only took out 6 random eggs -expecting them all to be dead- (Most of the eggs are my JB eggs & the ones I look forward to the most besides the few quail eggs that have been developing.)
all 6 of them were still wiggling about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that will be the end of evening candling for this lady right here. These babies are all extra special now

Sticks~holly cheese balls that was a close call! Looked at mine again last night, didn't do all of them but the ones I pulled out are major wigglers!!! Day 10 is Sunday so I will recandle them all then, my daughter is soooo excited!! She is just beside herself so I am reallly hoping we have a good hatch.

Looks like everyone is off to a good start!! I'm so ready for the 13th to get here!!

Hi everyone,

Is it too late to join this hatch-a-long? I set eggs in my incubator 2 days ago (1st February). This is my second attempt at incubating. The first try, 2 weeks ago amounted to nothing. Very disappointing. Hopefully I've got my new incubator figured out now. :) I live in Thailand and the heat and humidity here at the moment is high.

Try to keep your humidity in the bator in the low to mid 30's during the first 18 days. Then during lockdown up it to low to mid 60's. Temp should remain 99.5-100 throughout. That's what has worked for me here in Florida and we are very humid.

Well, day 9 and I just candled for the first time.
I have 15 forming very well, and 9 that never started.
Considering that I had them shipped across the country when the weather was -30 here, I am very happy with the results!
So now I have 15 beautiful silkies well on the way!
trying to decide what goes in the incubator next.
Leaning towards 120 coturnix quail, I love raising those little buggers, and getting eggs at 6 weeks.

gapeach : Just want to say I am sorry about the chicks that passed.
It just flat hurts. I have come to accept that sometimes mother nature just makes that decision
because they have problems that we cannot see and they would not have had a good life.

I am having such a laugh at myself...Good Grief.cannot stay away from the incubator..........

And then I worry. What if the hydrometer reading is off.and on and on..............
