I'm so sorry you are going through all this! :hugs It is a very hard thing to do. We think, because we would want to live even in a less able capacity, that they would. They are very instinctual. If he cannot do what roosters do, he will be scared and suffering all the time. He crows because he is hiding his condition. I wouldn't personally be able to do it. It would have to be DH doing it here. You're brave to want to be there to help him cross the rainbow bridge.

I also want to add, I tried to keep Ethel alive for a week after an eagle attack. She got continually worse until she died. That is an even worse feeling. I should have culled her days earlier as I saw her declining.

Perhaps the lab will also talk this over with you. Tell them the symptoms. Maybe if you hear it from them, you'll feel better about it.

Big hugs, Kelsey!!! :hugs :hugs :hugs

I know. I just called two different numbers and they didn’t pick it up. I forgot it’s a holiday here today.
What! A holiday. :barnie:barnie:barnie

If he dies you need to refrigerate him.
Not freeze.
Go dig in your garage now for an ice chest.
Be prepared.

Do what ever you want. I told you I'd have already helped him. I don't believe it's right watching them suffer.
If he isn't able to move he is suffering in my eyes.
I know. I’m not saying I’m going to let him continue to suffer. I’m just saying I was hoping he would be better and that I wish I didn’t have to. Not that I wasn’t going to. He’s not better so I’m going to off him today. He only got really bad like yesterday so it’s not like it’s been forever. I think I might just go kill him first without waiting to hear from the lab.

Yeah, Patriot’s Day plus today is usually the day of the Boston Marathon but of course not this year.

I don’t know if we have any coolers but I’ll look. Could I just put him in our fridge??

before you help him you need a way to refrigerate him.
Do you have room in your refrigerator or do you have an ice chest with ice?

Will your dad let you put him in your refrigerator is the question.
