Massachusetts Dog officer holding my Birds hostage !!

I never heard the threat of confiscating the rest of your birds! Was that the "inspection" they threatened? As for testing your birds, unless you are in an area under quarantine, or state law or Dept of Agriculture requires testing for birds leaving your property, they are now within their rights. Have the birds in their care shown any signs of illness? THAT might be considered grounds for testing, but id not...

Things are getting better, but are still not right.

The guy she threated to have take them was only the NPIP tester lol. When i realized who it was I had a good laugh, I figure she just assumes I am clueless.
She was acting as if he was some big official inspector or something. In MA NPIP testing is mandatory only if you plan to propagate or move birds from property to property or show. Otherwise its completely voluntary. So Since my peas flew off my property, they now need to be tested ..im not worried though. So they will come home & they along with my other birds will be tested ..no biggie..its free...just a hassle becuase I have to miss work.
The police dept said If i ever have another problem with her, contact them 1st & they will handle it, he said he has dogs & he understands completely.

Its just sickening that I had to contact so many people in order to get somewhere, becuase she did not want to give them back. She buys her feed at the same feed store as me & she never even mentioned to them that she found the peas..theres only 1 feed store anywhere around here & that should have been where she posted that she found them..if she truly wanted to find their home. I spoke with the owner personally & she said nope, she never mentioned a thing. thats very odd to me. they have a wall with lost and found & for sale & all sots of ads on it .. and when i lost them..I go right to craislist farm & garden ..this isnt a country state..but the neiborhood is country ..so it was the best i could for advertising. and just my luck someone annonymously said she had them in her possesion.

Makes you wonder if she had a friend who wanted to 'adopt' them? Though... that's probably ascribing too much dirt to the whole thing, she's just a pompous jerk I suppose. It probably started out normally enough and she got in over her head, and a lot of insecure people cover that up with overreacting. Delusions of grandeur!

I hope she has them in a large enough pen and that they're being cared for, it'd be nice to know they've got room to stretch at least. Are they hens or cocks? I hope if they have full plumage no one decides to rip out any of their feathers. I'd hope people there know better but who knows sometimes, they sound pretty ignorant in general, lets hope they have more knowledge about fowl than their apparent level of common sense would imply.

I hope they have not been exposed to illness while away from your property. As a precaution, I suggest quarantining them from the rest of your animals, if possible, for a while, just in case.

WHo knows where she kept them....

Nope..still havent got them back. I was supposed to get a call over the weekend so that i could go pick them up..but no call. The npip tester is due out on Wed ..and they are supposed to be back before then..so im expecting them to be back. Boy i hope there arent any problems..i would really be heartbroken if they pulled some crap last minute. They are overdue for a worming ..ugh..this whole thing has totally sucked
