May trade for a new horse thoughts please?

for sure pat is right about that. a lot of people don't know much about their own horses.

Of course sometimes they only pretend to be clueless. I took a lady to look at a horse once and it was REAL lame. I very diplomatically said to the seller, 'Ain't he a little tight behind?' and he just stood there and smiled and smiled and said, 'WHY NO!' and I knew he knew...shyster.

I like the paint, hope he's as they describe! I agree there are alot of clueless people, I've also had my turd horses make liars out of me, I swear if I say this one is good, or that one is a pain (for the farrier for example), that's the day the sweet one will be a butt head, and the demon will be an angel.

My sister has a sweet mellow Paint gelding, he needs training in the since that he doesn't know much, but he doesn't have a mean bone in his body. At least I thought that til the other day when he threw a major tamper tantrum! He first shake his whole body (trying to be intimidating), when that didn't get him results he'd hop w/ his front legs leaving him leaned real low and stomping (pawing) w/ one foot (looked like a two year old screaming and kicking). Never seen one behave quite like that. Geldings can be such knot heads sometimes, actually my girl was the only one being good that day.

I was also wondering if it's possible that appy was going into season? Most horses I've ridden, you couldn't much tell when they were in season, but there was one once that went from sweet sleepy mare to full on psycho hosebeast when she was in season! Just a thought.

That is a good thought.

I saw a horse being offered on Craigslist for a couple months for free who said her girl would turn into a wild bronking bit**y horse from hell when she was in season and couldn't be ridden or walked near because she would turn and double barrel you.

How's the horse search going?

I thought I had mentioned the owner was wondering if she was going into heat that comment might not of been recorded....and I do think that was the problem but still you never know when she gonna fire like that for whatever reason. In that bucking video the stallion is leaning over the fence and the appy starts kicking/hopping to buck a bit at first. The appy is backed right to him pretty much at that time. I believe the appy was kick and bucking at the stud.

The guy in Hermiston Oregon said yesterday he would send me pics but has not I called with a blocked number and he answered how bout that....I am not gonna keep bugging him. I do want to see pics of the horses he thinks will fit my needs before driving 2 plus hours though.

Between the 5 from you and welsummer.....I heard back from one. I emailed a bunch of people off of craigslist last night and no firm deals yet but waiting for responses on several. I also went and looked on petfinder and asked a couple of rescues. One responded and said they don't have anything like that now but will let me know if they do.

I'd didn't see the video of the app, but I wouldn't buy one that acts like that in heat or not, I've never had a mare that acts out just because she's in heat and I wouldn't tolerate it. It is always possible she was just having a nut job day, sometimes they just have those days, but there's no way to know and I'd for sure have passed no point in taking the chance.

And I can't help but wonder why the seller with the black and appy have a stallion *headdesk*

I've been reading fugly horse of the day tooooooo much

oh they have 28 horses and like 5-10 studs.....only 1-2 older ones these were right by the empty pen like an arena and then the rest were young studs way at the front of the property.

I did email the owner of the appy and the black gelding last night and said I decided no for obvious reasons on the appy but the black gelding is because of the trailer issue. I would be inclined to take him out of there. I told her I felt bad for him. I also told her I appreciated her taking the time to show me the horses. I also said that I think she should give the black gelding away for free because he needs training and alot of medical help and to get some one on one attention. I did not hear back from her and doubt I will.

Do you all think he can handle weight between 250-300 pounds? The owner says they are 320 and they rid him. This gelding is not very tall and 9 years old but does look stout. The owner says his 6 year old rides him and his wife rides him bare back alot. They say they don't have a saddle left they sold them all so they can show me him under saddle.
