Mean cock... went to freezer camp, interesting find inside!

I hope it works out for you!
Thank you!! I think he might just need more room but idk. I’m also gonna try moving them to a new coop and maybe the shock will help? 😂 it’s bigger too and they would be moving in with my older flock so hopefully he would learn some manners?? Because he grew up as the only boy with his own flock of girls so he thinks he is hot stuff currently :lau

My other boy grew up with tons of brothers and a lot of competition and then moved in with the big girls soon after so he learned respect and didn’t dare touch them for so long. This guy chases them around and grabs them by their necks while they scream :(

Yeah, the mature hens will teach him some manners for sure! :p I personally like to combine flocks in a new coop. The newness of everything throws them all off and they have to come up with a new order. Older hens can be a real asset!
I’m a little worried my broody might kill him 😂🤣🙈 maybe I better wait till they’re a little older lol or maybe the newness will help like you said 😂 but yessss! I love having an older flock! They tuned my last batch right up 😂 and it’s so much fun watching my latest chicks grow up right in the flock with a broody. :love actually two. One decided to help out and coparent with the OG LOL I am hoping they can shape this guy up too. They do free range together at least but they tend to keep to themselves. Though my broody does chase them off if they get too close :lau

I’m thinking about butchering my bantam Cochin cockerel for this same reason but he is gorgeous and super sweet to me so I hate to do it :( but he just TERRORIZES my poor pullets lately :( I am going to try a few things first though and see if they help. :fl
Its so hard when they are pretty but jerks! Terrorizing pullets is one thing. I had a cockerel who just lacked finesse with the ladies. :lau The one cock I kept from last year has been SO nice! He tolerates my 3yr old very well and is a gentle soul and the hens LOVE him! If I end up replacing him, he deserves a pet home. I do find some of my boys good homes if they deserve it! Funny story with him, when I first selected him to be over a few hens (he was in a bachelor pen) he literally stood in the middle of the girls frozen stiff.:gig The look on his face was “Somebody pinch me, this can’t be real, I must be dreaming!” The hens took to him very quickly and I had great fertility despite him not aggressively mating like the other 2 Cocks. He is the rooster in my avatar BTW. A Wheaten Ameraucana. Super nice guy!

Aww, you are so lucky! A great roo is worth his weight in gold. What a cute picture too. She looks so proud of her big boy. He's a gorgeous boy too.

We just went through that with one of our cockerels. Not even 17 weeks old and he became relentless even after another cockerel would completely submit. And they are free range. I haven’t processed enough chickens yet for good comparison but I have observed something similar with quail. I did find one his testicles was discolored though.
Something was definitely off! So interesting to see the connections!
