Mean cock... went to freezer camp, interesting find inside!

Good for her! It's awesome that she is growing up not being afraid. She will be a great chicken keeper when she's all grown.
She was Definitely afraid of “Mean chicken” (what she called him) she didn’t see us actually doing the deed to the roosters but she came out when I just started processing them. It was an Interesting dialogue between us while I was processing him.

She asked where his head was.😬
And If I had killed him. I told her that we don’t tolerate mean chickens and because he attacked her, he was going to feed our dogs now (we raw feed our dogs)
She wanted to help me
I also had to keep telling her to stop poking (with a stick she found) the bits and pieces I was setting aside to save :lau

Most interesting processing I’ve done thats for sure!

Kids are great at that age. Imagine how much she learned from that experience. And she's not squeamish. Maybe she can help with the next one?

Gotta be something! He was very pretty! He was a Blue Wheaten Ameraucana. He was the only one I’ve ever had or heard of even that was mean! I was pretty bummed. But any aggression is not tolerated here. And they won’t be sent to auction for fear someone else’s kid will get hurt.
He was very handsome! Beautiful bird! I don’t blame you. That would be my philosophy as well. We don’t have any roosters. We can have them but don’t plan to. It will be a hatchery mistake if we get one -put it that way. No crowing for us to tolerate. We feel that our coop must be as odor free as we can make it but as far South as we live it is hot and humid and no matter what you do it can stink with the heat like it has been. I clean it daily and use PDZ and as many tricks as I know but that is all the torture I am going to put on my one set of neighbors who border my yard close on the side closest to the coop wouldn’t you know. I’m wide open and no neighbors anywhere else on the property. When he ever puts his house up for sale and he will that lot is ours and his house is down to the ground. We will own the entire block in a very rural country town that’s very spread out.

I've processed a lot of chickens. The dominant cockerel/rooster always has the biggest testicles. Sometimes they're mean, sometimes they're just loud, sometimes really just in good with the ladies.

Young cockerels are almost never good with young pullets, unless they have an older rooster or hen to teach them. I person don't worry about it because they grow out of that phase eventually. My frizzled cochin was great with the girls but a jerk to humans. Normally I'd cull but he was so small and handsome I held off. He's an awesome rooster now at 3ish years old. He will get in a tizzy if you mess with his ladies too much or reach for him but otherwise we respect each others space.

Its so hard when they are pretty but jerks! Terrorizing pullets is one thing. I had a cockerel who just lacked finesse with the ladies. :lau The one cock I kept from last year has been SO nice! He tolerates my 3yr old very well and is a gentle soul and the hens LOVE him! If I end up replacing him, he deserves a pet home. I do find some of my boys good homes if they deserve it! Funny story with him, when I first selected him to be over a few hens (he was in a bachelor pen) he literally stood in the middle of the girls frozen stiff.:gig The look on his face was “Somebody pinch me, this can’t be real, I must be dreaming!” The hens took to him very quickly and I had great fertility despite him not aggressively mating like the other 2 Cocks. He is the rooster in my avatar BTW. A Wheaten Ameraucana. Super nice guy!

Exactly!! He’s a birchen Cochin bantam and absolutely gorgeous but he’s so nasty to the girls lately 😭 my last one just lacked finesse like you said and he jumped them but they would chase him off :lau he was actually terrified of them for a long time and wouldnt even try mating :lau this guy just chases and grabs feathers 😤 But he’s very young so maybe will learn :fl

Your guy sounds absolutely amazing though! :love and he is GORGEOUS!

Broodies don't mess around! ;)
They really don’t! 😂🤣 she once chased a squirrel off three times then my rooster had to step in when it still didn’t get the message :lau
Gotta love a good broody! :gig
Whip those boys into shape!
:lau she sure does an excellent job of it! I once had to save him because he got too close and she cornered him :lau he didn’t try that again LOL
