Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Someone was kind enough to post the contact info for the Garden City mayor, council, state senator and rep on that site. I wrote to all of them and urge everyone else to do so as well.

I tried to do this once for someone else in another area (writing to the mayor) and the response I got was something like, and I'm paraphrasing, "Do you live here? No? Then you have absolutely no business recommending how we deal with chickens in our community." And that was that. I'm sure just the onslaught of letters helped to some degree but it was clear that unless you were contributing from inside the city limits, that you had absolutely no clout whatsoever.

Of course, I'm not saying not to try

Just don't expect your opinion to be respected is all.

Hi

I'm relatively new to BYC. I live in SE Michigan abount 20 miles from the Ohio boarder.

I started my flock a couple years ago with just a few pullets for eggsfor my family and out of that grew a chicken obsession. I now have 3 coops with adjoining runs, my how things change.

My laying flock consists of production reds, barred rocks, easter eggers and Black copper marans, then I have my Polish coops that consist of wc black, wc blue, self blue, gold laced, silver laced and Tolbunt. My husband says I've gone Polish crazy, I can't help it I just love the breed.

Anyway, thats my little storey. I'm happy to be here, and hope to meet some other Michigan folk.

So, I have 2 days to go before hatch. They went into lock down yesterday, and I swear, this is going to be the longest 3 days... Well, the longest 3 days since I was waiting for graduation. And my wedding... And my divorce.... Well, this is just the next thing in a series of "Longest days" in my life. HAHA

There is some rocking going on though.
