Lake Superior is especially cold this year. As far as wading in, the good news is that by the time you get in to your knees, your feet are numb. Of course that does not stop the yoopers from hopping in occasionally! A good dose of malt beverages or aged grape juice helps considerably.

I went to the UP for my honeymoon (07-2008) and we stayed at porcupine mountain campground. It was so relaxing I had a great time. Went to lake of the clouds and went fishing all over the nearby state lands. Walked in the clear sandy rivers and went swimming in Suprior. I want to do it again on our 10th anniversary.

LOL. I am bringing my swimsuit but only for the random hotel hot tub! I never jump into water, I sort of wade in. Probably a condition of not knowing how to swim! Yes there are still a few of us out there, I blame the Girl's Club of America and my brother who liked to grab my ankles and pull me under when I was little making me scared of the water.

I've met young adults who don't know how to swim, either. It is often due to a fear of water too. So it isn't unusual! So yea, probably wise not to go leaping into the lake

I had to stop on Thursday when I pulled something in my back.
Friday I was in incredible pain and could not move. Saturday was the same but the pain has subsided quite a bit today.
I think it might be a few more days until I can get back to the patio work.

Nice, I really like the engraved pavers. Might have to look into that when the time comes. Nice and level...

Not quite level...there is a bit of a grade so the water runs off. At the end, I'm going to slope that from the lower level to the upper. I'll bet that is going to be a challenge.
The engrave bricks came from the family church that closed down. There is a 12 x 12 brick that will be set to feature a park bench that will go on the lower tier.

I really like these types of projects but they sure are time consuming. Demolition, haul away and prep work has taken up 3-4 weekends. And that was before the first brick was laid. My friend thought that this was just a weekend project.

"Ugly" Mama and the babies! She's a great mom, and not nasty to me at all. BTW, she hatched blue eggs, not her's (that I know of, I assume she lays brown).

Raz, the patio is looking great! We did one a few years ago and it takes many many hours! My husband and our oldest son did most of the work.

About a week ago I posted about my chickens being sick with swollen eyes or just all of a sudden turning up dead. There were, at the time, 2 with swollen eyes and one that was just acting lethargic, and three that had already died. I gave them immunizations with Tylan 50 for 3 days so far and the two with swollen eyes are showing a lot of improvement. The lethargic one, however, died. I'd like to treat all the chickens just in case any are sick and I don't know, but I'd rather not give all of them immunizations "which probably isn't a good idea anyway" and I still don't know what is causing this. Any ideas on whether I should put anything in their water, and what?
