I posted a question about bird swaps/meets/auctions not too long ago and wanted to thank you for the replies I got on this forum.

ALSO, I found out that Ravenna Mi has a small animal auction EVERY Saturday. It starts at noon but I was told to get there at 11am at the latest to make the rounds and scope out what was available ahead of time. Just wanted to pass this exciting tid bit of info along in case someone else on here is close to this area.

I believe the exact address is:

3265 S Slocum Rd
Ravenna, MI 49451
231-853-5738

I will update if I find out more info. From what I've heard they usually have lots of chickens, pigeons, game birds, rabbits, chinchillas, sometimes goats, etc.

Happy Spring! (even though I woke up to a white yard this morning. fingers crossed for sunshine again next week!)

Sometimes I feel really dumb.... I knew about the auction in Ravenna. I have been there a time or two a few years ago. We got rid of an abundance of rabbits there too. I don't know whay I didn't think to say anything about it.

There is also a small animal swap in Newaygo at the Family Farm and Home. They have it in the parking lot. It is the corner of M-82 and M-37. Tha dates are April 10, May 8, July 10, August 14, September 11 and October 9. From 8 till noon. The number for information is 231-856-4641.

BlueEggs, you are not too awful far from me. We are about an hour away from Muskegon.

I have a barred rock/welsummer cockeral if anyone wants him. He ia almost 6 weeks old.

Oh man did I screw up!
When i was trying to find Muscovy eggs I bought some eggs from Manahiem Farm- but I bought some from her last year, and they ended up NOT being Muscovy- so worried, this time around, I ordered from someone else also. Those eggs came what? Ten days ago? After I ordered from somewhere else, I pretty much forgot about the first set of eggs I ordered from Manahiem- she had sent me an email stating she would let me know when her eggs were ready, and I had pretty much forgotten about them. I meant to email her and ask for some of her chicken eggs instead- once she emailed me, but I put it off and it slipped my mind. Well, she didnt email me- but Paypal did to tell me that my eggs had shipped.
Poor brain. I said, "Eggs? What eggs? OH CRAP!!!!!"

The point to my post is this- I have Muscovy eggs already under way in my incubator. Are any of you interested in hatching some? I have a dozen eggs being shipped now- should be here on Monday. Briana, you are close? Want them? If any of you would like to come pick them up, you are welcome to them.

The mule foot is a really interesting breed. If you don't mind, I'd love to know how he likes them once he gets a little experience with them under his belt.

We got into American Guinea Hogs for many of the same reasons -- ability to forage, not as likely to root, calm, docile and friendly disposition, etc. They, like the Mule Foot, are also considered critically endangered by the ALBC.

I don't know if it was mentioned when the topic first came up, but there's also a monthly swap in St. Louis for those in the central part of the state. I believe the first one of the season is April 10.

You are right I am close but my bator is half full of chicken eggs and they still have 11 days to go. That and ducks is still 1 thing my husband doesn't want. Anything that will need a pond or water of some kind. Thanks for the offer.

I have met Bill, got a few birds from him, checked out his hogs, LOVE LOVE LOVED his guinea hogs, I could definitely go for these guys!! When we were there, he had three, the older two were about 4 -5 months and the younger one had just flown in and was about 2-3 months, cute as a button and so friendly!!

Forgot to add, Bill is a really nice guy, would definitely do business with him again and recommend him.
