Morning!!

Thank you all for the compliments on Remi, he is doing so well and we have just fallen hard for him!!

It is amazing how much instinct he has at just 5 months! He lays out there quietly unless he hears something unusual then hops up and barks!! Yesterday there were some stray cats wandering by and he was barking at them. He already knew strays from our 5 cats! I praised him for alerting me to the danger and he stopped barking and wiggled his big butt!

Can't wait for next weekend to meet everyone at Chickenstock!!

off to feed the crazies. i mean chickens. well, either term is technically correct.

Good morning. Not to busy of a day today I hope. Laundry, but that is never ending.
Vicki that dog is so cute and fluffy. Will he do a lot of shedding? Do you name him? Or were the breeders Ratatoui fans? I love that movie.

Early Afternoon Everyone -
Update on Broody Hall - Trudy, the broody twin lost one of her chicks this morning - When my husband went out to open up Broody Hall around 7:30, Trudy was inside with all of her chicks (5). Then I went out to check them around 8:45 before church and there one of of the black cochins was in the run dead. They are about 5-6 days old today. NO IDEA what happened - everyone was alert and following Trudy around yesterday. I know that this can be expected, I just need to chill about losing any more. There's one more black cochin and that chick and everyone else seem to be doing fine....I would like to see the moms sitting more so that the little ones can nestle under them for warmth....but I'm sure the moms know what their doing! Nancy (hustonn)
btw, is there a way to get back to one of your posts and update? For those that haven't been following, it would be nice to show Broody Hall again - I'm going to try and get some pics of the chicks today and post.

We did get to name him. When we actually sent a deposit on him, I think he was 8 or 10 weeks and they asked for a name then so they could start training him. His full name is Windance Remington at the Ready! Call name is Remi. I am sure he will shed quite a bit with that double coat. I have always had short coated dogs, so this is a big change for us, but most LGD have similar coats and for good reason.

whaaaaat? where is Vicki? she knows about this stuff.

Not a muscovy expert by any means, but muscovy's came come in a barred pattern and my one drake has some barring or rippling on him. It is cool! Cottage Rose has or had some gorgeous muscovies in barred or maybe hers were ripple. I get them confused.

what did the dead chick look like? i know that sounds weird, but was it squished or any other details? and so sorry.

The chick looked fine - didn't look like any peck marks or anything....it was just laying in the middle of the run on it's tummy - I wouldn't think that Trudy could have crushed it do you?

It's 1:32 and there another death - this was one of the white crested polish- found it laying on it's back in the middle of the pen - I've just put them all back in their houses so that the mom's have to sit and the babes can snuggle and sleep - maybe they shouldn't be allowed outside yet?? - What a disappointment!
