Hello fellow Tennesseean!
I know that feed stores usually only sell chicks in spring, but there are online hatcheries that might could send you a chick, though they usually require you to get more than one chick. Personally, I suggest My Pet Chicken, since their minimum (3) is smaller than most online hatcheries.
My second go-to would be to look on craigslist. You'd be surprised the amount of hens people give up there, so a quick browse could be handy on getting your hands on adult chickens.
