Minnesota!

Rhett, those are nice looking stoves. We had one very similar to it when we lived in Tofte, eons ago. It was called a "grandpa bear" Air tight and heated the entire place without using much wood. I was not as smart as you, I thought for many years a Poplar and popple were different species. I thought the Lombardi were poplars and the other popples. When I lived up north the loggers called the Lombardi trash wood, but liked the popple.

Naivety can run deep in my branch of the family.

Once more I feel compelled to set the record straight. For rednecks it may be called Popple or Poplar, but for those of us not in the club it is simply Quaking Aspen or Populus Tremuloides.
It has always been called popple in our family, however I did know that it was actually spelled/pronounced poplar. I love listening to the rustling leaves of the Aspen - however I very much dislike the smell of Balsam Poplar (balm of gilead). I know it is supposed to have some medicinal purposes, but the smell is too overpowering for me. I would love to let the quaking or bigtooth varieties take over where the Balsam Poplar is growing.
Was in Buffalo, NY two days ago for a conference in Niagara Falls - yes there are poplar there. :)

Small update from me before I go spend hours catching up:

Tractor not running right so hay is at a stand still. We are expecting rain tomorrow I think so they better figure out what is wrong!! Any bales they make off the land is less that I have to buy.
I have been canning. 24 pints of relish and 12 quarts of hamburger pickles in 2 days. Whew I am pooped!
We have started cleaning out the 2 stall garage that has about 13 families and 3 years of things in it. Still working on it but we are close to the end. Does that mean I actually get to use said building? I won't hold my breath but wouldn't it be nice?

Oh and the best part.......DNR called me today. The second set of tracks I emailed with the tape measure has them thinking I have a wolf on my hands. The conservation officer came out and snapped some pictures and we chatted. He said he will forward all my info and stuff to the federal wildlife management guy who will attempt to trap the wolf. He told me that just yesterday there were wolves taking more cattle about 30 miles from me. Sounds like it is getting problematic. I really hope I don't loose any of the cattle here.

Have a good day all!

Did you happen to tell the DNR, I told you so, for me?

I could tell by the quarters, but then as proprietor and operator of The Wolf Identification and Elimination Services of Minnesota, I would assume it is natural I am smarter than the DNR..

Actually, You're in a good position now, I think they will have to pay you for your losses, not that, that will make up for the loss of a pet, but it will help. Unless there is some silly rule not allowing the monies to go towards ducks or Geese.

Sorry, I guess I did do just that didn't I? Bad taste and timing on my part. Just the other day NorthFlChick deleted a comment for posting it in the wrong thread and I'm afraid I teased her a little bit about it. Then I turned around and did the same cotton pickin' thing. Again, my apologies and I'll leave you to your thread. Oh, and if you happen to see her, please don't tell her I did this. <sigh>

How do I know you weren't just following me? Or maybe checking up on me? I hate to get paranoid, but I think I should be." Never mind" sounds so rehearsed and phony. Tell us why you were really here?

And in other news, The guy from Craigslist that was going to get the guineas at 5pm, never showed, so they are still available to some lucky winner, if you're interested.
