MJ's little flock

Yeah ~ Gurrumul gets a good reaction too. I love he never felt he needed to sing in English.
I wish more artists were singing in Aboriginal languages! I reckon everyone needs to hear a little every day for the good it does. People from all over have been using indigenous languages in emails lately. I got a kia ora from someone in NZ and an Aloha from someone in Hawaii and I've been saying Niina marni in mine whenever I get a chance because I'm on Kaurna country.

I don't know why Americans are always so surprised when other people can do things well too. Generalisation tax.

Yeh i know but it's not his fault. The people running the industry back then were excessively aggressive about protecting their markets and invasive of ours. We got all their music and they got very little of ours.

I'm still in Quandamooka country ~ Noonoonucle country, Kath Walker country~ but I am very conflicted about the whole Indigenous thing because I think both sides are lieing! There were atrocities on both sides. Both sides abused children ~ though for different reasons. I have a written account from a relative, one of the 1st white fellas around the Mackay region, who records in grusome detail an attack on his family hut by the local Aboriginals ~ unprovoked. We have become unbalanced in our understanding of history. The truth lies somewhere in the middle, not to the left & not to the right. I have cousins who spent their whole lives @ Bamaga & Kowanyama & they present a very different picture of attitudes than politics dictates. I prefer to stay with the art. The art is what it is & stands or falls on its merits alone.

And being the terribly politically incorrect person I am I see parallels with so many other countries. Being a displaced Scot or Irish doesn't mean you get to go back & claim the traditional homelands or ancient sacred sites ~ & both places are littered with them. Holding on to old grieviences benefits no~one. :he

Sorry for ranting on your thread, MJ. Abandoning truth for political correctness makes me wild.

Did I abandon truth? I didn't mean to.

Yikes, no! Just me ranting in a general sort of way. It's a trigger for me ~ as so much of history is. 🙄 You never ever want to get me started on the clearances. Actually you probably never want to get me started on Scots or Irish history ~ ever. Or American Indian. Or what is happening even now to the Saami. :he Sorry, MJ. I think people pretty generally are awful to each other & the virtue signalers (not you, usually the PC crowd) make me see red. I will feel better & less cross about the world in general when my head stops pounding.:D

And just like that she looks more chicken than scarecrow.
