This morning's update is that they're keeping her in for the weekend to see if she will gain weight. They'll continue crop feeding her.

It's unlikely you will ever know. Sometimes these things just happen. I know that doesn't help. We all want answers.

Roosting time is getting easier. Knock isn't attacking Myth as much. I think she got a bit of post natal depression. The chicks hang around in a group and are doing reasonably well at staying in touch with the adults. They seemed to have worked out that Notch and one of the hens go off egg laying and the chicks take cover in the evergreen bush on the way to my house for much of the day.

Despite all the drama between these two, as you can see, Myth doesn't exactly look beaten up. She has a couple of small peck wounds at the back of her comb and I can't find any other signs of fighting. Neither of these two could be called nice hens. I feel for Notch. He's got all the nightmare hens. He does incredibly well considering the task he has and this ongoing dispute with the roosters in Tribe 2. The tribe is noticeably different without Gedit who was just a giant rock in troubled waters. They had a lot to cope with as a tribe this past year.
