That's not my intention.
It is something I wish people would think about though.

It enters my mind all too often. Sometimes when all is quiet and the flock is scratching around I ponder this. Many times I discuss it with them. Lilly, Sansa, and Sydney will participate in the discussion. The others just seem more interested in digging through the leaves right now.

You are quite right of course. You are a hard headed realist and while I admire that, it is often quite scary!

Let me hide behind my delusions and ignorance for short time and I will ease myself out by increments that I can handle. That way I won't go completely catatonic and may be of some use in the long run!

You make a really valid point. When you get right down to it, we humans manipulate everything in this same way.
And I am one one those people that creates my own little world, trying to make it ideallic. It comes from decades of realizing that I can’t do anything to improve the world we live in, it is what it is. So I try to make my tiny space on earth the way I’d like things to be.

It's all about balance. We are part of the equation too whether we like it or not. It's about all of us getting some of our needs met. None of us will get all our needs met. As humans we have a greater responsibility to not be arrogant pigs about getting our stuff met @ everything else's expense. If I make sense.

There's a big permaculture farm @ Mt Samson ~ n'west of us. The man did some of his horticultural course with them & we have implemented @ least some of their ideas on our property though we needed to start @ least 20 years earlier. It is disheartening when we try so hard to work with the land to see everybody else just decimating it. I think we are up to 5 native bee hives now too & I hope to get my native hedgerowing in shortly as we clear our footpath. I've upset the neighbours by killing off all the grass.

The whole idea of mankind being somehow "above" the rest of creation really rubs me up the wrong way. It's obvious we are all part of one big ecosystem. If we had more of an holistic perspective as a species we wouldn't be in the pickle we are now.

Yes! I said this as I watched my extroverted neighbours melt down in lockdown. It would have been funny only they were so obviously suffering.

Hate it or love it, we don't live in a state of nature and nor do the other species who share our homes. I doubt Ivy would last a week in the wild. Same with your princesses, although Minnie and Dot would probably do ok for a while.

Railing against the economic systems that oppress others is sensible but it doesn't achieve much. Educating young folks in ways that open their eyes while empowering them to make change (rather then instilling hopelessness) is a good way to go. Or developing lab-produced foods that disrupt agribusiness.

Much as I wish to avoid being too negative I don't think we have time to educate enough people, even young people. We don't learn very well and there are too many vested interests that are intent on upholding the status quo.
Education is great before the train gets to runaway status, after that you need brakes or obstacles, or in the case of humans, laws that get properly enforced.
I have never seen any evidence of the belief of some that we are fundamentally 'good' and intelligent enough to save out own skins, let alone any other creatures.
