I have an L-shaped roost with a poop board underneath. The nest boxes are underneath the poop boards. This works well for us. The girls usually use the long part of the L for nighttime roosting and the short part for daytime resting.Friends, what do you think of an L-shaped roost?
I don’t have any experience with one so you will have to let me know how it goes.Friends, what do you think of an L-shaped roost?
A night section and a day section. That's similar to the habits of the princesses and roadrunners at RC's house.I have an L-shaped roost with a poop board underneath. Here is a low quality photo I snapped from my video camera because I thought it was cute that nine curvy girls were crammed together in such a small space that night!View attachment 3022376
I'm toying with the idea. Once the roosting box is finished, I'll see how an L shape might work. I'm thinking of providing a natural branch and a length of timber.I don’t have any experience with one so you will have to let me know how it goes.![]()
I understand. What makes me wonder though is those who usually say it's only a chicken wouldn't bother stitching up a wounded one.If she hadn't said it's only a chicken. I wouldn't have been so tetchy.
Yes, although for my flock that's only the case during the winter. They rest outside during the summer and really only come in the coop to lay eggs and sleep at night. I am sure that is the case for most flocks.A night section and a day section. That's similar to the habits of the princesses and roadrunners at RC's house.
Summer feels so long ago I am not sure I can remember exactly what they did then.Yes, although for my flock that's only the case during the winter. They rest outside during the summer and really only come in the coop to lay eggs and sleep at night. I am sure that is the case for most flocks.
