MJ's little flock

I hope you don’t mind MJ, but I took a video of the ride home after rowing this morning. It was such a lovely morning and I wanted to share it. It’s nearly 18 minutes long, so maybe grab a cup of tea or coffee before watching. I did ride past the chicken house, but you can’t really see them. The wind also gets a bit loud in some places and it’s a bit hard to hear what I’m saying, but you can see what a nice morning it is.

Here’s the pier, also.

It perked up overnight and there was more poop dropped overnight than the night before.

I've been reading the DVM and think it likely the chick had (maybe still has) a gastrointestinal blockage.

So even though it's much chirpier this morning, I've isolated it in the big cage on a fresh towel with food, water and the heat plate. It's in Kindergarten Corner with its friends. It's been eating proper food and drinking. It just made a lovely poop before my very eyes!

Anyway I'll leave it in the cage for now and count poops in a few hours. If everything seems ok, it can go out again.

There's a lot of poop in the languid chick's cage now, and come to think of it, it's not very languid any more. But given its eating preferences, I think it's wise to keep this chick on nothing but crumble for at least today, maybe longer, so it'll stay in the cage until bed time. It has a monopoly on the heat plate, but I don't think that's a problem today. At present the temp is 24C. However, it shows me how handy a second heat plate would be, so I may get another one and just keep it on hand. Anyway, a spare would be very convenient in the event the existing heat plate stops working.

I can't wait to view it. I'm saving it for this evening :)

Lovely day!
I don’t think I could do one of those reclining bikes - how do you steer?

I love my recumbent! The steering is down by my sides, and the gears and brake are on the left, hence being able to hold the phone in my right hand (which, technically I shouldn't have been doing on the road as I'm a vehicle 😳). I don't touch my phone in the car, period.

Pushing pedals out in front of me, I have found it's given me stronger knees than pedalling on an upright. Plus I'm not sitting on a narrow, uncomfortable seat, so that's a big win. Really, the only downside is that I'm quite low to the ground, so I'm possibly not as visible as an upright, so I've got a sparkly shame flag at eye level. 🤣

Aww, they're trying to get into the hospital cage! 🥹
It looks like that, but really one had a jacaranda flower (a delicacy) and the others were chasing it down 🤣

I'm going to have to let the woozy one out of hospital because the weather has turned chilly and they all need the heat plate. At least Woozy has had a crumbles-only diet until mid-afternoon, which is better than the Fanta, crisps, and chocolate it usually chows down on (just a little joke about its woeful eating preferences, which are dirt, crumbles in the dirt, poop, and random bits of not-food).
