Also, FWIW, a person can get ANY of your gmail or other caca site passwords on the darknet for about 10 dollars, or trade other 'items' for it. As mentioned if you use the same e mail for multiple log ins, it just makes it easier and easier to get it. Using simple passwords is not helpful either. Oh it's just a chicken site, no serious data here, I'll use my favorite chickens name as the password... Not saying that happened but, just an example, once the camel got it's nose under the tent... you have unexpected company.

Has BYC ever been hacked like this before? Or maybe had an even bigger hack? I'd assume so, I'm just kinda fascinated by these kinds of stories lol.
This is the only other incident that I'm aware of: https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...ding-byc-downtime-malware-warning-•••.398758/

And I don't think BYC was really "hacked" today, there was no breach of user data. It was really just a compromise of a single account, albeit one with extra permissions. It did not occur because of some security flaw inherent to the forum.

Folks, a compromise has happened.
Even if it did NOT, it is still VERY GOOD practice to change your passwords often on ALL sites.
Why wait for an event? Do yourselves a favor and change stuff up tonight, if you happened to use this password on other sites as well..... well...... all the more reason to change em up for your own safety.

The 2FA thing helps a ton too. No you won't lose vital info being hacked here, but what if I hacked your account, and posted pictures of 'someone' being mean to chickens and claimed it was a selfie of YOU?? :p

Do you want the Chicken Mafia and the Cluck Possie after you for crimes against chickens? I mean, what if it really upset a Gypsy who voo doo cursed you and caused the poultrygeist of every chicken you ever ate to haunt you? That would be a pretty fowl circumstance to find yourself in.... please, do the right thing, change your passwords and don't egg her on!!
