Catch him at night when he is on the roost. Put him in a cage until the next morning when you are able to get him by the legs. CHOP!
When I'm really mad at a rooster it's not so hard to chop their head off. Just have a sharp ax.

wait until he goes to sleep. they are like a comatose person. simply lift him off the roost.

I've used a large towel to toss over their heads while they're on the roost. Keeps them dark and gives protection against getting pecked. You can also just wear good leather gloves and a thick long sleeved jacket until you've got him contained.

Happy to read your chick died with out assist. Just wanted to add for those not able to cut necks... you can put them in a bag, turn the car on and close the bag around the exhaust pipe. It doesn't take long.
