It's not always a good thing when a cockatiel lays eggs though, it can be a chronic problem and isn't very good for a cockatiel to lay a lot. Tweety and Rosie are about 5 years old (I've had them for 2 years), and I've only gotten 1 egg from Rosie, and like 20 from Tweety (most of them recently), which is very bad. She lays exactly 3 eggs every few months, so she has a chronic egg laying problem. :-/

Yeah, I know. I've done quite a fair bit of research on cockatiels and eggs (because I was going to breed my female, Pookie, but, unfortunately, Chilli died :( ). I'd just love her to lay an egg though. I'd keep it forever.

Have you tried changing Tweety's daylight hours, to see if she doesn't lay as much? By covering her cage or something? That might help. :hu
Usually, if they're kept inside, they think that artificial light is the same as natural light and they lay accordingly (longer days usually signal Spring/Summer, which is the mating season for a large majority of birds).

I like to keep Tweety's eggs too, (when my siblings don't crush them).

I read about that too, I'm going to try that here in a few days when the chicks aren't in the bathroom. She is always sticking her tail up in the corner of the cage and doing her mating sounds like every day. Silly bird. I'm interested in breeding cockatiels too, I've done some research on color genetics. I don't think it's a good idea to breed Tweety though, because of her egg laying problem. Her babies would be pretty though, she's a pearl cockatiel. Rosie is a normal grey, but what makes her unique, is the smiley face on the back of her head and she has the sweetest personality.

I'm sorry about Chilli. :hugs

Yeah, good idea. Hopefully it'll stop her from laying as many eggs.
I love all the different cockatiel colourings - mostly whiteface, like Pookie. :P It's a shame I couldn't breed her, I think Chilli and Pookie would have made beautiful babies.
Rosie has a face on the back of her head? That's awesome. X3

Yeah, they would of had pretty babies. :hugs

Some colors are worth more more than others - emerald cockatiels are worth like $300 in the US!

Here's my cockatiels:

Oh my gosh... There is a face. That's awesome.
On my horse, cinnamon's back is a white patch in the shape of a running horse. She has her winter coat still though right now so you can't see it.

Yeah, it is!

Ooh, you'd have to take pictures when she gets it back! :)

Yeah. I thought I got a picture last year sometime, but I can't find it. She's shedding now, so by mid-April, maybe her "running horse" white patch will be back.
It's really interesting because she's supposed to be a solid cherry bay/bay QH, but she has tiny white spots all over her back, so I think she's a mix with a paint. I'm still waiting on papers for her....
