Murray McMurray hatchery???????

From everything I've read and from my last ordering experience, hatch day is typically on a Saturday and the chicks are at the PO on a Monday. My EDD is tomorrow however and I have yet to get a tracking number :(
I'm anxious for my babies! :p

They have different shipping schedules at different times of the year, I think it changes the middle of July to during the week.

looking like i got another Easter Egger as my mystery chick. its odd since i thought they usually dont pick a breed that is already in the order and i had 2 EE pullets in the order. kinda disappointed really

and at that, i think its a cockerel. took me a few months to rehome my extra 2 roosters (last one went last month)

I'm with you, I ordered a Hamburg pullet in my last order and received her, plus her brother as my free chick......I'm not sure what I'm going to do with him!

I guess I'll have to be on the hunt for some of them. I was really looking forward to the super chocolate eggs :(
I'm in Canada so it seems there is less variety and more hoops for me to jump through, luckily i'm close to the border and have a US shipping address so I can go over and bring stuff back. Guess I'll just wait for one of my girls to go broody and hopefully order some eggs for her to hatch. Thanks for the info! :)

You might want to consider Welsummer eggs for a darker brown if you haven't already. The eggs are a pretty medium dark brown, a lot of them have speckles, and they lay better than the Marans.

i did read that the BLRW are usually splash which is disappointing, but im really looking to replace my SLW, so its not a huge deal. it would be nice, and ill probably keep them if they look ok, but if not, it will just be more incentive to sell them off (my fiance already calls me the crazy chicken lady lol) with the NH Reds. i also am assuming the silver polish chickens are the silver *laced* polish chickens. but again, doesnt really matter. i was hoping for white crested black, but it shows that they have like, nothing for availability for a while. anyone get any "silver polish" chickens from them and have photos? would like to see the kind of quality.

i double checked the shipping date and it is a monday, so ill let my post office know and hopefully they will call me when they arrive. im only about 5 minutes from them, but ive never shipped chicks and i dont know if thats something they regularly receive or not.. guess ill find out. but from what ive found, they refund ok?
I have a silver laced Polish from them and although I'm no expert, I would consider her lacing to be nice. she's got a good even white outline around the black on her feathers. No clumps of white etc. I'll try to get a picture today for you. I'm also impressed with the lacing on my Silver laced Cochins, a friend ordered the SL Wyandotte's at the same time and I don't find them feathered nearly as nicely

thanks for the suggestion! I'll have to include a couple with my next order

Got my second orer from McM today. The rare exotic had been long gone when we picked them up at the PO today :( Totally flattened on the bottom of the box :/ It was a silver laced polish. Other then it the other's all appear to be doing well so far, tired from the long trip to the PO, then across the border to Canada and another few hours to get home, but all are eating and drinking. :)

I'm sure handling has a lot to do with it. I used to handle baggage for an airline that carried mail too. Unloading hundreds of pounds of mail from the back of the plane, with the engine still running, I was chunking out mail boxes as quick as possible when I see another worker come running waving his arms wildly. So I got off the plane and took off my earmuffs and said WHAT? He screams "tHH.oSE ARE LIVE ANiMALs!" So I took a look at the boxes I had been chunking down the conveyer belt, they were baby chick ;(. I had no idea....I'm sure a lot of people handling the boxes don't know either....
