LUCKY!!! I'm so jealous of you country people... That's been my lifelong dream! When I grow up, I'm going to have chickens, ducks, emus, alpacas, sheep, goats, guineas, and HORSES! I'm starting vaulting this spring, I think. I really hope that they'll pretty much just start me out with bareback stuff on a walking horse or how to fall off/dismount without killing myself. I'm kind of that type of person.

Ah, if I die, you guys can have my chickens. I only have four though...

Thanks. He's not mine (fortunately). He's just a lesson horse I rode in a show (you can kinda see me at 10 years old sitting on the saddle). He's adorable... but pure evil. During the pleasure part of the show (where the judges judge based on the horse attitude and obedience) he tried to bite a chubby little paint mare named Coco.
The ranch sold him, but the new owners hated him so much they gave him back. Luckily, though, the ranch eventually found a home for the little devil
And I'm not from the country. I WANT to be, but I live in a little suburban town that only allows 6 chickens
Equinehugger3, it's not too hard to ride a horse. Nothing to worry about, since I'm sure they won't start you out with a horse like Hobbs (horse in the picture). And they'll probably start you out in a saddle, since bareback trotting can be slippery. Yes, I fell off of my leased mare (at that time). Twice. So did my friend, though
I've been riding for 5 years, LOL! I've only riden bareback twice though, because all of the places I rode at were complete pure western places, and my lease horse is like 21 years old. He's great though! He's such a sweetie! They let me ride their other horses, which include awesome athletes and real young ones. Their 16 year old goes around the world and country to polocrosse tournaments.
It looks kinda scary though! LOL! I love riding Jake, my lease horse, a lot though... I feel so bad when I don't! He still has tons of energy, and he gets this sad innocent look whenever I take out another horse a couple days in a row...
But when I take him out riding, he acts like he wants to go home and eat. He's so funny!
He's just in it for the treats...
I'm just excited to start vaulting! I'm not a flexible or brave enough to do gymnastics on like beam and stuff, but I think this is a good way to combine me wanting to do something somewhat like that, and my love for horses! I love findin other horse freaks on BYC!!!
