Hey, i hope my post isnt too long and at least somewhat understandable.

A few months ago we planned to hatch chickens for us and also for a friend of us. She asked for a certain breed, which was totally okay fur us, since we wanted to hatch more than one breed anyway. In the end we could only find eggs of one breed and agreed to just buy day old chicks of the oder breeds. We repeatedly asked the breeder if we can put them all together in one group and they always told us that we could, since the chicks are roughly the same age.

As yall may can imagine, they did in fact not get along, the stronger ones didnt let the younger and smaller chicks eat after we put them in the same enclosure and after a few day we noticed four of them got sick with coccidiosis. We separeted them, all got medicatet and the bigger chicks, that "caused" the Problem moved to our friend who wanted to keep them anyways as soon as the medication was over.
Despite medication, special food and our care, three of the four sick chicks died sadly. The last one, his name is remy, is still alive and actually got much, much better. After talking to our vet (hes specialized in chickens), who helped us with treatments and what not, we decided it was time to introduce him back to the group again, because at that point he was alone in his little quarantine cage for about two weeks and already pretty healthy (no ascites, no diarrhea, normal posture etc) but after a few hours back in the group, he was miserable with all the symptoms back and we had to separate him a second time.
The same thing happened again today, he was perfectly healthy, but after two days in the group, he looks like hes super sick again. The other chicks arent mean to him, they are just much bigger and more active, because he didnt grow properly.

I really dont know what to do, i dont want him to be alone all the time, but i also dont want him to die or be sick. Our vet also doesnt exactly know what the problem is, our only guess is, that his immune system is really weak and thats why he gets sick everytime hes with his siblings but idk.

Maybe anyone had the same issue and can help? Any tips are greatly appreciated and i hope my text was somehow readable, im not a native speaker, but i tried my best.

Hey, im new here and i hope my post isnt too long and somewhat understandable.

So, a few mothns ago we decided its the right time to hatch chicks for the second time. From our old flock only two chickens are still alive and they dont need the big coop anymore, so we thought now would be a good time to hatch new chickens.

A friend of us aksed, if we also could hatch some for her and since we have the time and space for it, we said yes. She also asked for a certain breed, which was okay for us, we wanted to hatch more than one breed anyway. In the end we were only able to find eggs for her breed and agreed to just hatch those and buy day old chicks of the other breeds. We repeatadly asked the breeder, just to make sure we could have them all in one group and they said thats not gonna be a problem, since theyre all roughly the same age.

As yall may can imagine, they did not get along well, the bigger ones did not let the younger and smaller chicks eat and after around two days we seperatet them again. Four chicks still got sick with coccidiosis and after talking to the vet we took them out of the group and put them in quarantine. All chicks got medicated, even if they did not show any symptoms and the older ones, that "caused" the problem, moved to our friend, since they where going to be her chickens anyways.
Three out of the four really sick chicks sadly died, the last one, his name is remy, is still alive now. After talking to our vet again, we introduced him back into the group. At this point he was alone in his enclosure for about two weeks and basicly symptom free (no diarrhea, no ascites, normal posture and he also slowly gained weight). But after just a few hours he was sick again with all the symptoms, so we put him back in his quarantine station. The quarantine is in my bedroom, in know, but i have a really big room and im able to watch him better that way.

Now, a few days ago, he seemed super healthy again, no symptoms, happily running around, gaining weight and kinda bored, we decided to try and add him to the group again. The other chicks are bigger than him and also most of them are more active, but theyre not mean to him and he seemed happy. So, that was two days ago and suddenly hes sick again.

I really dont know what to do anymore, i dont want him to die now, but its also not fair to have him seperatet and lonely all the time. Our vet also isnt sure why this keeps happening, our only guess is, that his immune system just isnt strong enough yet. If anyone has an idea what to do, any tips would be greatly appreciated.
I hope yall have a great day and my text was at least somehow readable, im not a native speaker but i tried my best.

What have you used to treat the chicks’ coccidiosis? Corid or amprollium is usually available over the counter at feed stores. Dosage is 2 tsp of Corid liquid, or 1.5 tsp of the powder per gallon of water given for 5-7 days. If it may be a strain of coccidia that is resistant to Corid, then sulfa antibiotics (bactrim, sulfadimethoxine,) or toltrazuril can be used. Sorry for your loss.

We treated them with an antiviral called baycox and probiotics we got from our vet. We dont live in the us, so i cant get most of the stuff you named, but i know bactrim and could aks my vet if he thinks that would help!
Thanks for your post :)
