My 16 week old white leghorns just started laying 4 days ago. I cooked some of the eggs this morning and was so disappointed. I heard they would be so good but they were so bland. We started feeding them the layer food when we got the fist egg and we give them meal worms and bananas, watermelon, peppers and we let them free range for short times during the day. Any ideas?

Unless you are not allowed to have roosters, try introducing one rooster to them, sometimes this will help spark the flavor. Or you could try feeding them food with higher protein

I'm wondering how often you're feeding them! Do you leave food out for them all day or do you have a feeding schedule?

We got the feed from Tractor Supply. The brand is Dumor it says 16% layer feed calcium fortified. We do leave food out all the time.

And we are still mixing that feed with the grower feed we have left.
