Seriously, you do not want to jack around with this. Will your insurance cover a lap? It's not a big deal at ALL, and is practically considered routine in endo or polycystic diagnosis. I mean, I was literally dying, and NO ONE KNEW IT until a surgeon who knew what he was doing opened me up and looked.

I'd rather feel like I overreacted or was paranoid than wind up having a colostomy (or worse), and wishing I'd had that exploratory surgery! You take care of yourself--you can't afford NOT to!

yeah i hear ya but wouldnt hurt to just check PCOS is veeery hard to diagnos bc no woman has the same symptoms or issues 9we're horrible little snowflakes) itd be worth looking into and if thats not what it is then atleast oyu could cross that off your list ya know.

Again, this is THE textbook endo symptom. When I was your age, I just thought it was normal, or that I just had "bad periods." Well, it took me educating myself about endometriosis and joining a support group to learn, in my 30's, that agonizingly painful periods are NOT NORMAL. I can remember crawling on the floor during those times, because it hurt too much to stand up. And it never dawned on me that this was not usual? Yeah, I know, DUH. But of course I had male doctors just clucking and nodding and calling it "dysmenhorrhea" and telling me to take NSAIDS.

Girl, you get some decent medical attention. Life is too short, you hear? Don't spend the prime of your life in agony.

My concern is my insurance. I'd be scared that it wouldnt cover me requesting surgery. I do need to go to the doctors though on many subjects so maybe I should just make an appt. Well before hand call the insurance company and ask them if they cover exploritory surgery.....i guess if I explained good enough to a doctor who will listen (not my one family doctor) that they may consider it NEEDED surgery instead of a requested one. That's my fear, I dont want to waste that money. Heck, I have impacted wisedom teeth I wont get taken out because our insurance considers it COSMETIC!!!!!

interesting. I never thought I could possibly be a person that had PCOS, but if everyone has different symptoms with it then you're right. hmm.

Laparoscopic surgery, where they basically just make a teeny tiny incision (usually in your bellybutton, so it's invisible) and go in with a teeny tiny camera looking for abnormal tissue. If they get rid of any, it's usually by burning it off, which is temporary at best.

Although, in the interest of full disclosure, I should say that no one found my tumor with a lap. Heck, the doctor here even opened me up and removed an ovary, and STILL missed it. It was behind my uterus, and they just didn't look. Nice, huh?

Dr. Cook also says that a large number of his endo patients present with hernias, and I had a large double hernia myself. That is where a good deal of my pain came from. Most doctors will try to tell you that "women don't get hernias," because they don't know how to find them. I actually saw a hernia specialist here at home who flat out told me "you don't present with hernia," just months before I had the giant double hernia repaired by Dr. Cook's team.
