Empty Brooder:
My brooder is now empty! The Black Australorp that had the sore leg has joined the coop with the others and Hazel. She seems to have healed up and is walking and moving on her leg.

And has fit straight in with the others.

Introducing Licorice:
She now has a name not Black Australorp with the sore leg!!!!

Introducing Almond and Coco:
I can't tell the 2 Rhode Island Red ladies apart yet but one will be Coco and the other will be Almond. We will choose witch one is witch another day.

Babies grow up so fast... My BBWs are now the same size as their Heritage friends that are a week older. Their mentors still look like giants (2 week old chicks) but I'll bet by next Friday they'll look like dwarfs. It's just amazing how fast they grow. I need to remember to take the phone out with me and get pix.

Update on my babies roosting at night:
They haven't yet worked out where they should roost at night. They can use the ramp but not to go to bed.
Ive had to teach them every night so far lol. Hazel doesn't help just watches me show them.

Hi Everyone,
I have 8 Australorp chicks that I purchased at 2 weeks old. They are now 29 days old. I will be posting my journey here. As we just moved to 10 acres and will be letting our chickens free range. And may need advice on the journey ahead.

My notifications were broken so I missed 4 pages! But I got caught up and I’m so happy you got some names!! Licorice, Almond, and Coco are sooo cute!!! Also, I don’t know if you answered this, but is Licorice’s leg better yet?

Hi lovely, how are you?
Yes Licorices leg is heaps better she is walking, standing and moving it a lot better. She has now joined the others in the big coop and I checked on them this morning and she was down eating with the others so that means she used the ramp ok and didn't hurt herself again. Im really really happy I couldn't lose another one.

Anyways how are you and your flock?
