is this bumblefoot?

That I don't think it's bumble foot yet, but I'd treat it that way to heal up the cut because it can become bumble. Soak her leg i put both legs in to a bucket half full of warm water and 1-2 Cups of Epsom Salt. mix it real good so it's dissolved then soak her for at least 5 min longer if you can, then after her foot has dried put some colorless iodine on the cut let it dry then keep her off mud for a while, you can soak daily but only use the colorless iodine every 3 days until healed. I don't think this is what is causing her not to be able to walk though. I don't think a muscovy drake could do it either since my Muscovy drakes mate with muscovy ducks that weight about 5-6 lbs each. How come your gander didn't jump the drake My gander wouldn't let a drake near his mate for nothing. How is her appetite and over all appearance?worms could be a possibility or an infection but lets rule out things one at a time, does she appear depressed? Did she stand up in the tub and put weight on both legs? FYIdon't let her drink the epsom salt and water solution since it not only aides in healing but is also a laxative.

My gander is a super sweet guy. He is very gentle and friendly. I have never seen him try to mate with her. Today he got in between the drake and hen and the duck just jumped on him so my gander walked away. We now have to mascovies in there own pen. They are what is causing her problem. Everytime one of them tries to mate she flops down and her legs go limp. Then for a bit afterwards she has trouble walking. I feel horrible that the drakes are so aggresive. I thought our gander would stand up to them but he wont.

Are you sure your gander is a gander? My gander wouldn't put up with that for nothing. although there was a time one of my drakes could get the best of him but now that he has 3 besides himself to protect he is fearsome. I'm glad you separated the 2 from your Muscovy's though hopefully this will help her recovery. Do your drakes have ducks of their own?

I'd put some poultry vitamins in their drinking water to give her some extra help.

But when it comes to the mascovies he backs down. And we currently only have on little rouen girl. The rest of our ducks met a racoon over the winter We are trying to find a couple mascovy girls and then get rid of one of our males, but finding them has been hard.

She has been walking pretty good the last 2 days so hopefully she is on the mend. She still limps a little but she gets out of the pen and roams the yard like normal with he man by her side at all times.

Sure sounds like a gander lol well once your female gets back to normal and sounds like she is working on it. One day there maybe some gosling for the 2 of them and I am thinking your gander will be a whole different gander when he has little ones to protect. Please watch those drakes with your Rouen they can mate her to death. Hope you can find some ducks soon.

our little rouen is in with the rest of our birds. She is the the only duck left out of our flock of 15. Our mamas co-hatched 9 babies last spring so I am very protective of her.
